Anybody spotted this new SAF toy at the 2004 army open house at safti?
Looks like US LAV,no news heard of it and nothing has reported of it.Unlike SSPH1 and Bionix, which are announced and report widely in media. Can anybody share any information of it?
No, the V series is not only confine to the protection of Installation.Originally posted by tvdog:The V series has too high a centre of gravity therefore it overturns EASILY on uneven terrain.
Technically the V-100 - 200 series should've been taken out of service long, long ago. They are now used only by air-defence of airbase (where it is VERY FLAT and sometimes for reserve infantry.
I'm thinking they should eventually replace the M113 Ultra with Terrex. So our APCs would be mainly Bionix & Terrex. The tank killer variant of the Terrex would also be a good supplement for our AMX13-SM1.Originally posted by kingkhong79:The V200 in Singapore are being upgraded with diesel engines and automatic transmissions so they are unlikely to be replaced by the terrex which is a bit of an overkill if they r only to be used for airbase air-defence.
I dun think SAF will be interested in Terrex as M113 replacement, they will most probably replace by more Bionix.Originally posted by esesce:I'm thinking they should eventually replace the M113 Ultra with Terrex. The Bionix does not have poor amphibious characteristics( eventhough need some preparation) becos they are not meant to be use in open sea, only for small stream & river where the water are not rough.Originally posted by observe:I tend to think that esesce's viewpoint would more likely come true rather than the "tracked and detroit diesel engine" champion in this forum.
But my reasons are mainly due to the poor amphibious characteristics of the Bionix.
We shall see the development in the next 1 -2 years to see which viewpoint is correct.![]()
ARISGATOR
ARIS has developed an oceanic kit that transforms the M113 APC in a fully Amphibious Landing Vehicle, named ARISGATOR.
Main parts of navigation kit are:
-the bow, to improve M113 floating ability and hydrodynamic penetration,
-the sterns incorporating two separate controlled propellers that allow high manoeuvrability in navigation up to a complete spin on Arisgator vertical axis.
During navigation, the original air intake system is automatically excluded and a snorkel system on the top of the vehicle is activated.
In this configuration, ARISGATOR is able to carry safely eight fully equipped soldiers plus the driver. A 12,7 mm. or a 25 mm. turret can be installed and can be remotely controlled by personnel inside the sealed hull.
ARISGATOR can safely navigate in open sea even in considerable rough conditions, showing a very low profile above the water and maintaining the same performance on land as the original M113 APC.
This transformation of M113 APC into ARISGATOR gives the Armed Forces the opportunity to have, at very low cost, a light amphibious vehicle.
ARISGATOR can operate in stand-alone missions or in support of larger and more dedicated amphibious vehicles.
A low rate initial production contract for different configuration of ARISGATOR has been awarded to ARIS by Italian Mod to satisfy Army and Navy Landing Forces requirement.

Those thingy would only be useful for small water obstacle.Originally posted by tripwire:its really stupid to seek amphi capability on our bionix... when we got this.... by the dozens....
