Just read the article posted by the Malaysian Author.
How out dated is the author information. Also his knowledge on weapons system is total questionable.
I like the part which he kept saying Singapore stuff is outdated, oh Malaysia is getting new one, better one ..... yes getting, in future .... sometime later......
Well the author fail to consider , when their new stuff comes in, possible Singapore will be getting something newer. -
Actually, the book by Tim Huxley on the SAF is only one book of a series. There are other books on other armed forces of the asia-pacific region by the same publisher. I have some of them. (Singapore, Indonesia, China)
The one I'm waiting for is the book on the Malaysian Armed Forces. The authors will be Joon-Num Mak and Russ Swinnertion - NOT Tim Huxley.
Its been several years and still no sign of that book being publish. Other books I'm waiting for are Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan and Australia. -
Reminds me of China. Forever boasting about how they are getting new stuff & how their new toys will enable them to "swiftly" take over Taiwan by force if necessary. THE leaders of the Singapore Armed Forces bureaucrats or warriors? This is one poser raised by British political science academic Tim Huxley in Defending The Lion City -- The Armed Forces of Singapore.
The author doubts the effectiveness of SAF in time of war, being led by regular officers, many of whom, he says, are essentially bureaucrats. Huxley is also unsure of the motivation and quality of conscripts and national servicemen should they face a professional, albeit less well-equipped and less well-educated, adversary.
In his conclusion, Huxley warns against Singapore's overconfidence when comparing itself with its neighbours. "Singapore's defence planners need to beware of falling into the trap of overestimating their own armed forces' potential performance and under-estimating the capabilities of likely adversaries."
While Singapore has technological advantage over its neighbours, it is of less use in situations of protracted political or military provocation serious enough to trigger mobilisation but insufficient to justify deployment of forces.

Our AMX is old.... M113 old .... , of course no need to urgently buy new one what !!! As the dumb author say, they all will all hide in jungle.
New tanks for what ? Shooting coconuts trees or durain trees, when all is inside jungle. Dumb !!! they can keep their jungle, they party in jungle, while enemy party in their city. They try to come out of jungle, will get shoot at by old amx-13s or old m113s , sorry they did not read up on the chapter that old still good enough to shoot anything clowns that walk out of the jungle. -

den singapore can have one of the world tallest buildings. den perhaps we'll name it Singtel Towers or smth like that.
btw our confidence is probably smth good. while overcomplacency is frowned upon, we must have enough ego and confidence to trash the mats up north. no point in us thinking we'll gonna lose.
in any case, if malaysia wins. we'll become slaves to the malays.
if we wins. the chinese in malaysia gets liberated. we'll be the liberator.
and how is the pple in the kumpung going to kill us? we'll definitely provide them with more economical opportunities than selling 1 ramli burger for RM2.50 to feed their expanded family. -

2. Low Crime
3. Over hundreds of F-16
4. Racial Equality
5. GDP of over 500 billion USD
The problem is the govt is not adopting the right policies,
if i were Dr M or Dr Abdullah , i can make M'sia stronger economically and better off then SG in less then 20 years =D
Just need to pay me 20,000 SGD per month and i will implent drastic and far
changing policies.. =D -

Singapore is very lucky malaysia do not have leader like LKY.

So UMNO isn't really wrong, cause we must acknowledge that SG last time used to malay land..we're the real foreigners here, and the fact that we have armed forces , is to keep them from chasing us out (like what the pple wanted to chase jews outta israel)

While us Singaporeans and the Malaysians are bickering about each other's military capabilities and prowess... we got to watch out for our neighbours to the South.
Not that many decades ago, we faced the CONFRONTASI together. There are elements in our southern neighbour's armed forces/ government that still barbour this kind of political and territorial ambition. So long as Singapore and Malaysia achieve higher levels of prosperity compared to the south, there will always be this threat. Watch out.... they have many hundreds of thousands of troops to throw into a fight, plus many other ways to create a social problem (e.g. pushing refugees from their many troubled provinces to the shores of M'sia and S'pore).
Further to the south lies Australia. Not a direct threat as such, but a significant geo-political player. Australia has become very sensitive after 9-11 and after the Bali bombing. They may not hesitate to intervene in our region. While this is not a threat to S'pore/M'sia, it could de-stabilise the region by isolating the Islamic elements. Again, this could evolve into a military threat. -

Whether Indonesia can sustain the armed forces and incursions is another question..
No doubt they can gang up against us , or maybe even try to do so..
