are there any nsf with a sniper vocation here? i was juz wondering how to get that vocation....

When I got out of sispec, some of my pals went armour, some went guards, and some went on to be sniper instructors.

Snipers have interviews too. My friend was earmarked for sniper instructor during his SISPEC after his interview liao. Lucky fellar
I went for the interview, and it seems they look at your eyesight, attitide, testimonial, and even BMT marksmanship result. -
Oh, that explains why I ended up in armour.

snipers are cool... all alone out there. no1 to karjiao u. haha... but i think i post also no use le la. my eyesight 500 degrees. since they look at eyesight den forget it. haha.

It may be cool but the conditions are rock bottom. Can you handle staying still for hours under hot sun, soaking rain, mosquito attacks? And that's only a few of the unpleasant conditions snipers face.

Yeah, the name is cool. But remember what they do. Putting a bullet into the head of someone you see in your scope isn't really the most pleasing of tasks.

ha, u have to get into Guards and Cdo cos majority of the SAF snipers from there one. then there is a POW thingy u have to pass if my memory didn't fail me. u also have to make ur own ghillie suit and dats one of the shiongest part, but some say its the easiest also, see how u see it loh...

500? Forget it then. They'll never let you in. But you can try for shooting contingent. FYI........you don't need to be a very good shot to teach. Usually the good shots were made that way when they were in their mother's womb. It's an inborn thing. Hi there are actually one sniper platoon in each brigade (including infantry not just guards and commandos). Training is tough but good life thereafter. work in pairs, up to 3 days in field. plently of time to do so thinking.
Btw, you be surprise not many snipers are "truely marksman" by sniper standards, during my course only 20% are.

In the past, U.S Marines sniper/scout selection were unofficially base on the background of the soldier volunteering. And they usually pick the red-necks, hill-billies. The reason was that this folks already had the basic of living off the fields as they usually hunt for their meals & for sports. Therefore, the Marines Sniper/Scout school just has to refine this individuals skills to be productive for war.

Usually there's a interview for snipers in Sispec during Bslc.
Most important requirement is your eye-sight.
Snipers all 3sgt and above.
All commanders platoon. -

Erm......that is not entirely true. That tab is not a standard dress for a No.4 uniform in the army. From what I understand it was a unit arrangement. But it's a helluva badge. It caught my eye the first time I came across it and I swore to get it someday.
