NSman Generals

I've always wondered, do NSmen Generals actually get called back for ICT? And if so, what kind of appointments do they hold?
I mean, I can imagine a NSman MAJ, LTC or COL going back for ICT as CO of a NS batallion or brigade. But I can't imagine a NSman BG going back as division commander 'cos all our division commanders are active guys. So where do our Brig Gen (NS), Maj Gen (NS) and Lt Gen (NS) go to? Ppl like Lim Chuan Poh, Han Eng Juan, Raymond Ng, etc.
Go back to MINDEF for "administrative work"? Or aren't they even called back for ICT? -
I surmise that they probably would have been seconded into high appointments in corporations or government posts and they most likely dun have ICTs. My guess is in times of conflict they act as advisors to the defence minister and secretary.

They're senior staff officers. If they go back, it's probably at SAFTI MI for project planning & stuff. Not the more-mundane ICT for ops-ready units.

Actually the NS Generals is and can be considered more as a title....
Sort of nobility....
All Officers expecially the rank of CPT and above can use put their rank and (NS) in front of their name... But most people do not do that...for obvious reasosn. Anyway Major, Lt Colonel and Colonels are so common...
But for Generals its more of a title to show their achievement.. Something like Sir... But not exactly there...
More like the Right Honorable title in UK... -

saw a MAJ(NS) before.
especially when there's a change of command parade going on in a NSman unit, u will start to see all those high ranking NSman come 1 by 1. just take a look at their yellowish green uniforms and the way they dress, so NSman.

Not surprising, met a few MAJ (NS) pilots during one of my underslung missions. Lotsa LTC(NS) during my division dining-in and other functions too.

Huh? I thought most combat reservist units are commanded by MAJ (NS).
Never got the chance to meet a reservist LTC in a military setting, but someone did point out the NCC version to me once. It was at the NCC HQ "Campus" in Amoy Quee camp, & the officer was in No. 3 uniform.
The one reservist COL I did shake hands with was a PDF commander. The irony then was that he was just appointed, but attended my unit's standdown ceremony as the Guest of Honour. -

saw a LTC(NCC) before too. went to my camp for the NCC IMT shooting final.
i saluted him. but, can i salute a LTC(NCC) in the 1st place? -

As I have explained above. The rank of Generals in the SAF is used more as
a title. such as The Duke of... ,
The title follows him because of the fact that he is a General. In Singapore not any Tom dick and Harry can become a general. So it is used as a title.
As a form of "nobility" in that sense...
He does not go back for ICT.
1) Because he is THE PRIME Minister after all. (This like Duhhhh)
2) He would have completed his cycle. -

Re: BG (NS) Lee - You referring to Lee Hsien Yang, maybe? He's still a reservist. LHL retired from the SAF a few years ago; hence no more such rank for him. -

Of course is you see the white bar. Than DO NOT salute. 2LT to CPT(NCC) can don't bother. But the Maj technically should. This is because of teh Pay grade and of course otehr stuff. -

Technically you salute a MAJ (NCC) but who in their right of mind do so? If his previous NS rank is an officer then yes, I'll salute him as an NS officer but defintiely not according to his NCC rank. -

NCC rank even as a cadet CLT some 17-18 years age, are going to be future officier also..
