Are you a real STAR, or for that matter, prior police service?Originally posted by John Ching:BTW. U.S SWAT officers wouldn't use Glock.
Its not the gun that decide how good a shot is but rather the shooter who can shoot.![]()
Yes, so LAPD supplemented their issue firearms with personal stuff.Originally posted by John Ching:If you are talking about SWAT the movie, they are repilcating LAPD SWAT not NYPD.
Hmm! Information from magazine is like news from CNN or BBC, never know if they are reporting the truth. SWAT means Special Weapons And Tactics, they are allowed to use any number of weapons at their disposal as long as their department can afford to buy.
Anyway, other might disagreed with me but personally, I prefer to use any .40 or .45 cal guns for close proximity shooting( law enforcement shootings ) & 9mm guns for slightly distance shooting( military shootings ).![]()

However, it also depends on the department in question, if they can afford to buy new arms?
But given the option, how many would prefer to use glock?
My friend in DEA/Maimi, FL, doesn't use a glock.
He hasn't get into any problems with any defending lawyers.
And even if its a problem, the solution is that most law enforcers in America have their personal permit to carry personal arms & when use in a line of duty is usually not a problem.

2. You've been watching too much lawyer shows.
3. You don't get my point as to why some law enforcement agencies aren't using glock.
4. Just because these officers carry glocks on duty don't mean that they like/prefer the gun. Its just like the S'pore Arm Forces' new weapon, SAR-21, do you like it?
5. Are you sure S'pore cops are using glock?
6. Comparing H&K to glock??
7. As for what weapon the cop in the picture is carrying, it looks like a Walther P99, Smith&Wesson Sigma Series, etc. You can't really tell what weapon he is carrying by the handle of the gun, could've been modified.
8. He looks more like a member of the NY ESU then a SWAT officer.![]()
You really should read up more on the Open Source.Originally posted by John Ching:Yes, I think you've to send me the pictures.
The last I heard was that the S'pore police are using Taurus .38 revolvers.
I know for certain that 1 of the reason why Glock is popular for the law enforcement agencies in U.S is due to the fact that its a light weight weapon which even a girl can carry & use.

Someone who understands English at last.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Johnston is saying that the normal patrol man of the SPF uses the Taraus .38 and those in the Police Special Operations Command and Police Security Command use the Glock 19 series of handguns.

stop being such a sexist, i had seen girls hu are definitely much more stronger than men .... in this case, the ability to carry heavy firearms ....
Im not a die hard Glocholic, but you are saying that the company cannot make any good items because they used to make knives.Originally posted by John Ching:Glock was the brand of knives from Austria before their venture into making guns. They were much like the Swiss army knives.
eh dun tink u get my meaning do u ?Originally posted by Johnston:*chuckle*
If that is how you define "Girlie", every last handphone in the world, except for Field Radios is Gh3y, and not something for a MAN to use.
Wait a minute, last i knew, Signals FMN had gals too. They can lug a sattelite radio around. it's Gh3y. We shan't use it.
And just so you know, compact Glocks are so easy to use kids can learn how to. From the age of 9?
So a gun that can be fired by a kid is "kiddy"?
STAR also have Jeris and have much more arsenal at their disposal.Originally posted by BeEtHoVeN:eh i can vouch for Johnston about singapore's cops using Glock handguns ...
to be exact, the Stars team .... a few months ago, The Straits Times did several articles on the Singapore's special forces .... in one of the articles, they mentioned that Stars members are using Glock handguns ....

police, army and even prison use the glock and won in the shootingOriginally posted by John Ching:Cool man! Whats with all the fustration over the preferrence of a gun?
Its probably better if you've the chance to shoot the damn thing then read it.
Of course, in S'pore you've to be either in the police or army to shoot a gun. Btw, Johnston, you said that the S'pore police used glock but you didn't specify which department. So your STAR uses it but do they like it?
There isn't really that many laws with regards to gun in the U.S, only regulations. But like you said, a good lawyer will ensure you stay out of jail.
As for whether your STAR are girlie or not, its not my problem either. But why do you chose to insult them?![]()
Seriously, this starting to look like a girlie communcation debate. So I'm not going to continue further on the matter.![]()
