When I ORD in 1995, the SAF closes 'Fei-Foong-San' aka Jennifer the CB garden in TVMA for only driving practices ...
Pauline is the best knoll to do a company mounted assault .. the slope is just wide enough to accomodate a tag-team of 3 M113s and 2 tanks ...
Kind of miss those days training in TVMA as combat team.

I was one of the unlucky batch to be in a tank battlion rather than a normal armour battlion. AI is more relax than tankie
. Everytime got to wash bloody SM1 in the middle of the morning like 0300 hrs. LRI is even more crazy. Ever fixed my tank till 0100 hrs b4. -

Eh... dun like that say leh... tankee in camp and set up camo net xiong, but outfield AI also xiong loh... esp dismounted attack with GPMG or 84... then always short of water... 1 section share two jerry can... can't believe my company tankee so much water outfield they use it to wash hands with detol and face with facial foam...

NS time, Best Armour(twice), Last year Best Armour(NSF), ATEC (NSF) Recon2A in Wallaby. Current CO, best NSF Men this year. Y, we have a sugar daddy..
Have to learn - M113 in Active, Ultra and Bio in NSF days. Damn Suck... Unit wants to be pionneer for everythings. Got good and bad. Last ICT(2 days) go bowling,Rock Climbing and Shooting in Safra Yishun. Hehe..even have to convoy by personal CARS from Camp to Yishun..damn funny.

Whao, u all still remember so much. Once i left the camp, Everything went also. And i 've only been gone for 2 yrs. Seriously, does anyone really care if his unit was hte best or worst? Cos if u did, shouldn;t u be a regular. Cos i've seen more slack regulars then this.

ATEC 1 will focus on individual tropper assessment, i.e. ATEC assessor will test each tropper knowledge in his own field ... eg. M203 gunner will be ask what is the effective range for area target and what will the vehicle commander immediate action when encounter arty bomberment ... all is like going back to the old days during trade course.
ATEC 2 will be focusing in the battle field where the ABG is tested on the fighting tactics of SAF, i.e. Attack, Advance, Defence and Delay.
The current CO of ATEC is COL Tan Kah Thiam, he is formerly the CO of 42SAR back in 1993-1996 mono intake. As he is from Armour, we will have a hard time to go through the motion. -

Yep... now ATEC got two component... to put in simply, component 1 is done in camp and it test the men more, component 2 is test in outfield and it test the commanders more... Component 2 is like the old kind of ATEC, the big change is component 1... Apparently, they think corporals like me are too lobo during ATEC and they want every soldier to be a 'thinking' soldier now... -

One of the most memorable exercise was with the CDO. We were supposed to laggar at a location and the CDO was to conduct recon/intel on us..... for whatever reason, the whole squad strayed into our arc of fire......just 10m from our vechicle, we cocked out MG. Looking at them freezing on the spot through NVG is quite comical.
Think they must have kena jia liat jia lat after the exercise.... -
I was also appointed as ATEC umpire for 432SAR ATEC in Thailand in 2001. Life was not so easy for the men as my OC(CPT Tay) and CSM(WO2 Richard Lee) in Jaguar are all siao-on type. Later on I was posted to 41SAR to train another batch of new intake. Lagi worst in 41SAR, CO Major Wong Kah Koon was another siao-on leader ... he will not hesitate to reprimand the OC in front of the men. -
I was appointed as ATEC aggressor coy umpire for 40/41 SAR in Wallaby sometime around 2000 i think. CO for that SAR is A D Se***, my OC jaguar for 42 SAR. Damn Conincident. 9933, i am the batch that ROD in June 1993. Pl 3, Jaguar. That means we are same coy different era...hehe... Richard...damn useless in the eyes of my batch...make so much noise. He is very scare of me, especially unarmed combat lesson. Ask him to go one-one with me on sparing, sneak away like mice. Me TKD (Black belt), he run dunno where....
Last patch of Officers are more bian tian compare to Richard and Tay... -

I was posted to 40SAR in 1995 with 5 months left before ORD to train the A-Level intake. The CO then was Major Bernard Tan, a President and SAF Oversea Scholar, now became Chief Armour Officer. Encik Mohan was one of those I admire in terms of professionalism. His command in the parade square is one of those gilat one. Heard that he was once a WO but kana demoted bcos he whacked his OC in his previous appointment. THat time, RSM of 40SAR was 1WO Tan KC (now MWO), now I think is the Formation RSM taking over SWO Chandran Nair. -

Talking about Bernard Tan, he's my friend's brother's classmate in NUS... okay lah... a bit far... But during one of the inter-unit games day, he joined us to play touch rugby against 46 SAR... but problem he's not very good... So after the match, i told my teammates that Bernard Tan is lousy without realising he was behind me then... 
Weeks later, my CSM came up to me and said, 'Ho, you very brave hoh...'
I said, 'why sir?'
CSM: 'CO you also dare to say lousy ah...'
Apparently all the officers and WOs were all around when I said the remark and they all heard!!

But let me warn u...433 is not on, but very 'wrong ball' and not as efficient as 46 SAR poly guys... You will find many things we do very extra, A levels commanders quite kiasi... Heng you posted to Bravo, supposedly the most on company, Alpha the most suay, Charlie the most slack... -
Don't worry. ATEC prefer to tekan the commanders rather than the troopers.. the most ask you 1-2 questions, the rest tekan the commanders. Hahaha.... I believe so....I believe you guys are trained by Roving team from 46SAR......infact, some of your instructors are in the same reservist unit as I am........425SAR.
Mohan is a legend in Armour and was my section instructor when I was doing my AISL at SOA.
Remembered two of his favourite tekan session distinctively.....
First was make our section fire-movement up from North slope of Evelyn all the way up to peak of Evelyn.
Second was during the Hell Week exercise when we were back in camp at 12am, he gave the whole AISL company 10 minutes to dismount OVM from M113 to oil all OVMs.....if cannot make it, remount OVM and redo again. Kena samura until 2am......
His rank was like the elevator....going up and down one......rumour about him hitting Officer is true.....he told us himself and also verified by the rest of the instructors........Even our OC OBS during his Armour training course was tekan jia lat jia lat by Mohan......

SWO GSB was out terror RSM during my time.......All duty personnels dread reporting to RSM in the morning when handing over duties......When he good mood, he smile smile and finished everything chop chop. When he in foul mood, he can throw extras like nobody's business. During one of the handing over, saw him scolded the BOS infront of everyone........like so old already yet dont know how to think. Now you know why I seat here and you are standing there......
Kena 3 from GSB before because of some area cleaning and when report back to Mohan, he said Fuck It!!! hahaha....
As mentioned, he was my section instructor when I was at SOA. Our section grown quite close to him and coincidentally, our entire section was posted back to 40 SAR in the same company......When Mohan was transfer to our company as CSM....all our specialists immediately happy like @#$@#%@. Once office hour over, all of us would gather at the mess and drink beer and play snooker......
The whole company respect him as a professional who is in-partial in his judgement and treatment. His knowledge is superb and have much things to share with us. Think the one specialist who always kena is the CQ. Because he always forget to ready his insulator with beer whenever we go outfield!!
Imagine during briefing in a hot afternoon, we have an ice cold beer to drink!!
1WO Tan KC was posted to 40SAR as RSM before we ORD. Incidentally, he was also our course CSM at SOA. Small world!!
From then onward, reporting to RSM in no longer so nerve racking.......He and Mohan buddy buddy, likes to drink at the mess and play snooker with us fellow specialists!!
His rank rise and fall between SSG and SGT (old ranking system) because of the "incident".....after which henta kaki at SSG for a long long time. After we ORD he is still SSG.
When we go back for ICT, we fellow specialists usually make it a point to and met up with him for drinking session. Course sometime we need his help in topping up missing equipment at the end of ICT.
