They were indeed sign-on under the "Lear As You Earn" scheme. Actually I'm not the 41SAR intake. I was trained as roving team an insturctor thru out my 2.5 years of NSF. I was posted to 41SAR for trade course in Aug 1993 after my BMT. That was really hell under Dine Swee that time. Neo and Dine slept next bunk of mine during the course days. Neo was a fun guy to be with, still remember the days when we got together for talk co%# sessions, he passed away after i had ROD.
Dine is a strange person, maybe bcos of his family's army background. Later he ended up in DB, "drag" one of my friend down as well. 
In fact a few fellow specialista(same course) got term in DB, make me think, why have those specialists done wrong to deserve this?
I agree that most of thos LAYE specialists have came out of the Army, but a handful still remains. Those that stayed are mostly WO leow.... -
