well here it goes, i think it was in the 9th mono or even b4, my camp has a statue of a pte soldier (after renovation he became a cpl), there was one night, when the statue suddenly moved and went to disturb all the prowlers, telling them to prowl properly, spooking the prowlers. If i am right CO gave 1 day for the whole bn after that

ya that story was passed down from previous mono..dunno how true that story was..cos gt a number of versions of the story..
the old figure was removed because it look...erm badly 'disfigured'...maybe u can find its picture in our Cobra Book..or if u can find the 10th mono ORD book. previously the statue below got a stair leading to it...now no more..taken away during our mono. those prowlers actually saw the statue walk down the stairs and was taking a puff(dont know where he got the cigeratte from?maybe his webbing)story provided by my previous csm ..dunno to frighten us or what..
atec result was quite good..got the best atec evaluation for the workyear 2002/2003, think gt a high recon 2a or something. cant remember what was 4sir ranked in BCU. -

yeah!!nice bed and metal cupboard like those in tekong..better in terms of living condition compared to olden times.
compared to other units like the old 1sir camp,hendon camp,old 2sib i think their standard was those double deck bed and green cupboard.anyone...correct me if i'm wrong.thanks -

which camp u talking? selarang or Bedok?
I dun recall seeing any statue of a Private and mine was way before 9th mono.
The only thing that I know of was a death of a malay guy from a bike accident from my company, but it was during BMT when it happened. Almost the entire BN went to the funeral and he was elevated to a PTE from a recruit. But there was no statue built to commemorate him so I'm not sure what you talking abt. Units get rotated out, new CO comes in will be unlikely to remember what went on in the last intake. The whole thing could be an urban legend, you know how bullsh*t normally gets blown up in SAF.
However guard duty in 4SIR many happenings, Me and my buddy prowling once during early morning saw a drunk couple literally screwing each other just beyond the fence facing ECP highway because at night that place had many trees and was very dark. I nearly got into a fight with the man because I told them to both FUC*off from the area. -

somemore by the time we ROD the camp was near sinking, half of the HQ block had to be evacuated and sealed off very unlikely they will build a statue ony to tear it down shortly when the whole camp was rebuilt and I heard now given to guards unit.
wah the guards unit now have it good. That old camp one of the best camps around with amenities closeby, nightsoff go marine parade, parkway parade or bedok hawker ctr. Sometimes PTI bring us go eastcoast jog all the way to bedok jetty can see girlie sunbathing.
Route march all along east coast.
I can't think of any other camp so good .. Except mebbe ang moh qwee camp next to the geylang lorongs. -

think the statue came after the camp moved to lck..nobody ever say why the statue is needed for.. -
I was from 4 SIR 9th Mono previously.
The LCK camp was the old guards camps before 4 SIR took over.
The statue was there during my time. There were many stories bout it, but dunno whethere true or not. One of the story I recalled was that a whole company who was doing road march actually saw the statue walking down the road.
So far I never experienced anything out of the ordinary with the statue though i do make a point to look at it in the eyes when i walk pass it cos they say its eye were red. And they were slightly red, but painted.
The camp was renovated during my time, I still remembered the old Charlie and support block which was renovated first. Charlie had to shift to the HQ block temporarily. But i can't remember where Support went to. After Charlie block and Alpha (previously support) block was ready, it was my company's turn (Bravo) to stay at the HQ block. Oh and we did get to stay in the new blocks for bout 2 months when it was completed, with the new beds, cupboards and all. But by that time most of us were clearing leave. -
10th mono here, all those stories about the statue disappeared with the renovation of the camp.
I've heard stories about the bravo coy building (sightings, unique and unexplained power failures) and the old 622 blocks though (occasional sightings, general creepy feeling) but nothing major that shocked the entire unit.
The only major "incident" that did shock the unit ironically happened in P.tekong where we went for exercise.
I was told when I went in that 4SIR was by "tradition" the infantry unit to score crap for ATEC. But 10th mono changed that by getting the best ATEC score in WY 2002/03; beating CDOs and both guards units by not-a-small margin. We got a high recon 2A for ATEC, almost kena Charlie Mike for recon 1 in the process. Some c0ckups during the mission ensured that we did not make history getting the rare recon 1 score.
However as the BCU competition considered a lot of other administrative factors that we weren't good enough to coverup/cheat at, 4SIR only got Silver (or whatever it's called) for BCU. -

622 is still there, and darker and creepier than ever haha. ANyway the new division, 1 sir and brigade camp @ mandai hill camp is awesome, really freaking kewl. If i am rite, one of the lao jiaos (he disrupted), said that support went to PLC

Hmm ...the incident regard the Bn at Palau Tekong happened in december 2002 right ? i was there for range with my company..i heard rumours that the soldier was missing from the western side of the island, landed up on the eastern pier ?

They went to plc to stay when the camp was undergoing renovation

I wrote a super long post on that tekong incident + past hearsay 4sir stuff once, I'll dig it up later and repost in this thread. Or maybe I'll just link y'all to that thread since I'm lazy
