About "too small for anyone to hide" - two things:Originally posted by chunyong:hard lah, they are in the dark, will strike anywhere, anytime and worst of all....anyhow but in here, if u dare to strike then u must be dare to die cos SG too small for anyone to hide lah, last time maybe still can but now everywhere got NPCs, NPPs lah....no horse run lah...
yup, but as u know, singaporean 'kiasi' one mah, where will dare, then our customs will keep those people who wanna come here for suicide bombing at bay, hopefully they continue to do their job well lah.Originally posted by dragonstar:About "too small for anyone to hide" - two things:
1. It will not matter to a suicide bomber
2. You will be surprised how easy it is to plant a small explosive device in a commercial building. It does not need to be a big one - even a handgrenade will be disastrous - not in terms of physical damage, but in terms of economy.

There is no way any country can produce as many highly-trained spec operators to match their numbers... nor is that a feasible solution...
these days, it's just to maximise bodycount and see who can cause the most heinous atrocity...
it's hard to defend against someone who is so bent of mayhem they'd die horribly to do it...
how to deal with it?
hunt down the perpertrators (the masterminds) and totally discredit them in the eyes of their followers...
something akin to getting home moviesof Osama sodomising a pig...
or sacrificing young boys to Satan... hmmm he already does that doesn't he?[/b]

I'm wonderring if JI has already inflitrated the S'pore Armed Forces?
MHA may've claimed that they've suppressed the JI cells in S'pore already but are they 110% sure? Remember MHA admitted that it was due to a tip-off by a lady that brought JI's actions to their attention. So what if theres still a sleeper cell that hasn't been active yet? This cell maybe even difficult to track if its a small cell made up of 4 to 2 men or worst women.
As to the possibility of JI inflitrating M'sia's Armed forces or Indonesia's Armed Forces, the percentage of probability is 70-80 %. The militant group Al-Ma'unah, which robbed the MAF armoury was led by a former MAF officer. The pirates along the M'sia, S'pore & Indonesian Straits seems to have skills, developed by military navies or coast guards, in boarding ships. Its also no secret that some of the JI in Indonesia had been in the military services. And so on.[/b]
For S'pore context mayb... but i'm referring to the global context...Originally posted by chunyong:no need special teams, normal PO can handle them liao.
ha, i POP from tracom a few yrs liao but after 911 sure got teach extra things so dat the newly POPed POs will be better equipped to handle, deal and deter terrorist things. they teach wat i dunno cos all i know is dat when i POP. the 911 happened. i dunno is lucky or unlucky, both ways also can fit in lah....Originally posted by Cpl Ho:For S'pore context mayb... but i'm referring to the global context...and can u care to share how normal police training is able to prepare officers to deal with the terrorist threat?
i'll answer the last 3 qns only, call 999 or your NPC, we will activate SAF's EOD for bomb disposal, they are the experts.Originally posted by baer:Okay pop quiz
How many of you know what to look out for when doing a bag search, how does improvised exposives look like?
Where are the vunerable spots (where a small charge can cause the most damage) in your workplace, community or public spots?
If I spot somthing suspicious, what details must I take note of?
Who do I call? (I know answer for supranatural things - Ghostbusters) but for suspicious objects? Think you neighbour mata can handle a Improvised Explosive device with anto-handling devices?
The gauntlet has been thrown..
To your 1st question, before you even touch the bag, stare to owner of the bag straight in the eyes. If he's carry a bomb, he'll show some form of body language. However, if the owner is damn cool, study the openings of the bag closely. If its set up by a pro, the opening device of the bag would most likely be trapped for anti-temperring. If the bag is opened safely, heres a note to take, explosive device are not small objects unless its a dirty-bomb or chemical agent. So be slow & careful how you go about searching.Originally posted by baer:Okay pop quiz

I hope your confidence of the normal policemen is correct. Course I think your judgement is based on the fact that S'pore has not had a serious terrorist incident after Mar 91 hijacking of SQ 117.Originally posted by chunyong:no need special teams, normal PO can handle them liao.
well, u can't expect out normal NPCO to go ard with MP-5s mah. Normal POs is to attend to more 'routine' cases and if something major has happened, they will radio for back up...Originally posted by John Ching:I hope your confidence of the normal policemen is correct.
