I dunno whether were my eyes playing tricks on me, but i saw a number of Oliver Parry FFGs being blown up in the film. Im quite sure there were a number of them....

Heck, even Saving Pte Ryan's Parts and Band of Paratroopers had holes picked in their stories when it came to historical accuracy, what more an obviously ra-ra film made to pander to the tastes of the typical flag-waving hick out in the mid-western US?
Only a Bruckheimer film would end a story of PH with Doolittle's raid, macham like the US must always have the friggin last word, compare the ending of Tora Tora Tora where Yammamoto stands at the stern of his flagship and there's that piece about awaking the sleeping tiger or something, someone correct me if I'm wrong, been awhile since I watched that film.
Gimme Sky Captain's P-40 anytime, it's like, holy crap, it can do THAT? Where do I buy 1? -
Oliver Perry or more accurately Oliver Hazard Perry (FFG-7) are a class of USN frigates. Those used in the movie must have been mothballed since late 90s since the US are now using Ticonderoga and Arleigh Burke class ships for escort. I only managed to watch the ending part where the Jap troops taking off and started to bomb the harbour.

haiya no movie is perfect....heck even in pattons the damn tanks werent shermans but pattons!
Mainly because the equipment that had been used in the time period are all well....gone.So certain inaccuracies have to be there.Just sit back and enjoy the show guys...if u want something accurate go watch a documantry -
There is a reason for historical accuracy, "accuracy"
When we start to 'bend the truth' especially for historical based movies like Pearl Harbour, Braveheart or Saving Private Ryan (which is only based in part on the true situation of the NILAND brothers see http://www.101airborneww2.com/bandofbrothers2.html "SAVING SGT NILAND") we get somthing worst than a skewed perpespective of realty - falsehood.
Take "Braveheart" so many facts were changed that you'd be suprised to learn that Isabella of France who marries Edward II (the king's son) was only 14 when William Wallace was executed (they never met).
William Wallace was executed in 1305. Edward I did not die until 1307, and was in fairly good health up to that time (he was leading an invasion of Scotland at the time). Edward II did marry Isabella of France...in 1308. In France. Afterwards she came to England for the first time. She never met William Wallace or Edward I. Finally, her first born child, Edward III, was born in 1312. Unless Wallace had come back from the dead, there was no way for him to father that child.

End result, more kids will remember Mel Gibson's version with its distorted facts than the historical figure. -

noticed that the USS hornet had an offset deck which did no exist then. when the b25s were launching, the waves weren't moving below, indicating there was no real carrier. and how come i saw seagulls flying over the hornet? when they launched 625 miles from japanese shores?

Aiya Pearl Habour is more of a chick flick
Frankly, I like war movies so I'm really disappointed in Pearl Habour. More like watching a corny romance movie.

Anyay, for those who doesn't know, the middle pic posted by foxtrout8 (the ship no. 37) was taken at Pearl Harbor. The white thingies you see near the island (Ford Island) marks the berthing quays of Battleship Row with the furthest right white thingie is the USS Arizona Memorial. The ship is still there, still leaking fuel (I was there a few years back)
