Comparism between SAWs

I have personally fired the Ultimax during section lima foxtrot during SISPEC before i went to Armour. I can only say that the weapon performed beautifully and the feeling of seeing the highly accurate stream of rounds hiting the target in both night and day is really shiok! I think the second picture of the Polish copy of the Minimi is a very good example of how a drum and/or belt fed SAW can use a normal magazine as well. I haven seen this before so i don't know about problems eg IA with such dual feeding system. Anyone got any answers?

SAW is a very accurate weapons PROVIDED you know how to handle it......during our ORD shoot, almost 70% of our company SAW gunners got marksman.......
Our CSM, Mohan, demonstrated the true art of SAW marksmanship when he filled a 30 rds tracer mag and engaged 300m target with 2 rd burst, left to right and right to left. All 12 targets in the chamber fell........SHIT us specialists lost a carton of beer to him.
Personally fired the SAW at SISPEC during Section LF. Was the support base, cut down the target boards with 3 mags........later kena fucked by section mate as need to climb up knoll to re-set the target boards......
SISPEC used the Mark III version whereas my unit uses the first version.....
One of the main complaint, from our SAW Gunner, about SAW is it length....too long....especially during FIBUA.....imagine trying to jumps into the window with this thing.....

What do you prefer? -
Definitely something which has a mag-feed and belt-feed capability.Anyway,read in this book called Fighting Fit by SAF,stated that the Ultimax 100 SAW can use a box magazine feed,drum magazine feed or belt fed.Think that the SAW is a good weapon,and something which the SAF should continue to keep.
Personally I feel that upgunned SAWs like the SA-80 SAW is not practical.Someone posted earlier that it is not pracitcal as after every 30 rounds you gotta reload,this I totally agree.Besides,whats the purpose of a SAW in a section?It is to lay down a base of heavy fire to support the Section's movement.Its totally ridiculous if after firing 30 rounds,you gotta stop,reload before you continue.SAW=Section AUTOMATIC Weapon.So,simply by the word AUTOMATIC in the acronym SAW it can be said that it uses ammunition quickly.Thus ammunition must be readily fed into it to enable it to function and fulfill its purpose.
Really hope that the SAF will take into consideration and make the stupid mistake of the British by using an upgunned rifle as a SAW,as this will greatly affect our combat ability. -
the SAW can be used as a sniper rifle if you mount a scope on it. that's how accurate it is.
we don't do that, since we already have proper sniper rifles, but the africans do, as do several other of our customers. -
We really should start looking into coming up with a good drum mag for the SAW, one that can be hand loaded in the field. What about C-Mags?

Sad, the drum mag was pure wayang, but 50 rounds handed loaded is better then 30 in a box...
