sending a poorly equipped/trained militia to the battlefield be it jungle/rural/urban is suicide. singapore cannot afford to lose men like WWII china.Originally posted by John Ching:WW II chinese infantry fought the Japs even with swords, kitchen knives, etc.
Points to Ponder:Originally posted by SibeiSuayKia:Points to ponder upon Anyway, just to let you know , Red Alert Was First Created on 95' this is year 2004
that means 9 years ago..
if i were on NCC, that means i would be 16 years old
minus off 9 years old..
= 7 years old prodigy playing Red Alert?
i guess i must be the only 7 year old around..

There are some very classified units and they play a larger role then
those listed here.
...
Heh , its impossible to win a real war with those units you have listed..
...
Precisely , why so many americans died in the Vietnam War, cause those units listed above are not enough at all.

perhaps.. they are just too tired to engage in trival arguments. those guys who posted here must be very free. their co should be notify..Originally posted by sgdiehard:War has not been fought yet but the rifleman and the storeman are already arguing who is more important in winning the war. Just like a company that has not done any business yet but the receptionists and the office boys are already arguing who contribute more to the profitability of the company.
Those engineers, armour, arty, airforce and navy guys, whose training are many time more siong one also never say a word.

Thus I conclude Logistics is still a key element in any battle. Small and insignificant it might seem now, but it IS decisive.
Hah, without battle field intelligence..Originally posted by LazerLordz:Hear hear!
Irregardless of what ever the new concepts of the military might be, infantry soldiers will still be figthing on foot. Using their own 2 legs also counts as mobile infantry.Originally posted by YI:armies across the globe are moving towards the mobile/mechanized infantry concept. the one who get deployed first win. they don't call a place strategic for nothing.

With less then 10,000 pple who are sufficiently armed , with careful and strategic planning , more then enough to bring down a enemy armed forces

2. Gaining control of Submarine pens which has double scorpenes
3. Demoralize the enemy and splitting them up
Read Sun Tzu's Art of War
4. Preventing Enemy Mobilisation by capturing of TV stations + Radio (most likely to broadcast in war time)
5. Offer them $$ if they lay down their arms
6. Promises of a new economy , restructured country
7. By-passing strategy(Avoiding the major battles and advancing forward) + Capturing of key leaders

Hey, have you checked out the suicide bombing rate in Iraq & Palestine? 1 would've thought that their population would have run out by now. Yet they seem to have suiciders every day, their women are really into to contributing for their courses.Originally posted by YI:sending a poorly equipped/trained militia to the battlefield be it jungle/rural/urban is suicide. singapore cannot afford to lose men like WWII china.
No one said they were stupid. And they did fought the Japs with whatever weapons they could get their hands on. Reason was that logistics were not being able to get through to them especially by sea.Originally posted by SibeiSuayKia:Nope, they didn't fought the japanese with swords..

Did you know of something called chain of command?

The storeman and the rifleman are BOTH part of the infantry, arguing who's more important is like comparing your own left and right legs. Logistics capabilities are integrated into the units and are not a separate element.
Unfortunately the logistics sides screws up a lot. Usually it's through no fault of their own. It's the fault of the dynamic nature of warfare. Pre-determined resub timings and postitions often change during an exercise/operation.
On pt :
1) I never said battlefield intelligence wasn't important. But without ground units to fight battles, to whom are the intel people going to disseminate their information to ? W/o ground units to fight, all your intel is moot. It's like buying a steering wheel for a car you don't have. The steering wheel is totally useless.
2) FYI I doubt ANYBODY in sgforums would want to jio you to go fight a war. If anything we hope you deflect to the other side just so we'd have an advantage in war.
3) I did, and I don't see any relavance to the topic at hand besides your immaturity.
4) Gee armchair general, all that is so easy to type. Go walk your customary BMT POP 24km route march to find out how tough it is. To accomplish the simplest objective in a war would be a hell lot tougher than that 24km march.
If you can fight that "perfect" war, the enemy must really be one heck of an idiot to let you accomplish all that. In reality that enemy does not exist but in your pen and paper battles, RTS games, and your dreams.
5) ROFL. Your ignorance and thick-headed-ness never ceases to amaze me. In your case it's not even "pot calling the kettle black". It's more like the snake calling the chihuahua "useless" because the chihuahua has short legs.
6) Watched too much gundam lately ?
7) Msia doesn't have the balls to make nuclear weapons. In any case it would be shooting themselves in the foot after proclaiming to the world that they're a "moderate islamic country". Nobody would take them seriously after that, and all their internation relations would go straight to hell.

yes we know intelligence leads the way.
what he's trying to say is that no matter what, you still need the riflemen to end it.
