Correction. The veri 1st course was in 1996 where all the 1st ATEC/OPFOR Officer and NCOs went for it in CTW. That was the 1st time CTW open up the course for non Commando. Before that it was oni taught internally.Originally posted by Obersturmfuhrer:They started the course fairly recently, about 1 to 2 years ago.
We call it a team. 1st let get clear what a PF Coy do? It does not oni do DZ, it oso do AS, LZ, PZ as well as BH. For BH most of the time the NDU will be around to work hand in hand.Originally posted by beavan:wah how does one guy prepare the entire drop zone?isn't it abit impossible?
wats AS and PZ?Originally posted by Joshua1975:We call it a team. 1st let get clear what a PF Coy do? It does not oni do DZ, it oso do AS, LZ, PZ as well as BH. For BH most of the time the NDU will be around to work hand in hand.
A PF will not stay around for too long ie to say once the 1st group of main body landed, the PF commander will hand over the whatever Z and move off to prepare PZ or PS. PF will always be the 1st in to open 'windows' for the main body and the last one out needless to say 'close the windows'
Next the Size of a DZ, AS, LZ, PZ and BH.
DZ for loads or pax has a diff set up. A well train PF team of 4 to 5 man can operate a DZ.
AS will need 1 X PF Coy to set up and operate.
1 X LZ is make up of 3 or 4 LS. Number of birds depend.
1 X Team for LS.
1 X PL for LZ. ie to say 1 X PF Coy can operate up to 4+1 LZ.
As for BH, it will depend how big or long the BH is. Example like D-day, per sector need at least a PL size.
Pathfinder. First In Last Out.
AS ~ Air Strip.Originally posted by superworm99:wats AS and PZ?

I knew only 2 WOs wore this. Even rarer than the US ranger yellow tab.
I am curious about this badge... any commends?
Not sure is it operational yet. The diff is the lighting strike on/across the wing.SWO Gunga is the Army RSM, why would he be wearing Air Force attire?Originally posted by Noeyessee:is he the 1 that wear air force no3 with red beret???
Yah, but if i'm not mistaken, they get a badge for comlpeting basic training...Originally posted by John Ching:Hmm! Have you ever seen a senior U.S Marine in No.1? They usually have so much badges on them that you can't tell if they are a soldier or a walking badge collector.
If worst when they are dressed in their No.2, they looke like damn boy scouts.![]()

Yes, the navy seals badge, or whateve name it is, probly is a more uncommon sight, n def look more impressive. i've seen cdos with us ranger tab n navy seals badge....they jus shine in paradeOriginally posted by Ponders:IT is the US pathfinder course.
Basically its a 5 week course focusing on navigation and preparation of drop zone.
But I do not think this is a rare badge compared to the US Special OPs badge. Many of us would call it the Navy Seals Badge, but the badge's official name is US Special Operation Badge.
ITs the one with an eagle grabbing onto a trident.
