Why are people holding many faces. They pretend to be kind to you yet the stab you from behind. Many singaporeans are like that, is it because of the psychology effects we get from watching too much dramas on TV ? really feel sick of it. Is there a conspriracy between singapore media making and playing such dramas on TV? One of my fellow colleague says he likes to watch the 7pm channel 8 show, I watch it and the whole show was about sabotaging, backstabbing and spitfires.
If I have the chance, I would like to migrate out of singapore, perhaps go to rural countries like thailand -

Let me ask you a question.
Do you think you yourself perfectly, totally never ever even criticize a person, or backstab him before?
Somewhere down the memory lane, you would have done it unconciously, or done it purposely, but forgotten about it.
I think this life is too short to start nitpicking on little bits of behaviour, unless such behaviour proves very harmful.
Best yet, ignore it, or find some ways to counter such rumours from backstabbing...
and in what way Thailand is better? Prolly you will be begging to leave there after some time. After all, Thais are humans, just like Singaporeans.

ppl talk and behave differently...and according to wat the social setting requires...
external factors oso trigger a certain emotion of attitude...
ppl can choose which part of them they want to show and under wat circumstances.....at work, with frens, with family, with strangers.....even in cyberspace.... -
I admit I got many faces. I backstab, frontstab, anyhow stab, self-stab, donno-how-to-stab. But that's life.

Yes I do criticize about ppl I think ppl s*ucks when they see as someone good to bully or "markan" . I confronted a few muslim friends who told me the same thing . he said that mostly JC students are the ppl who likes to backstab people. It must be something wrong about singapore's education system. How many times have u seen people giving up their seats for pregnant womans or they simply close their eyes and pretend to sleep. The society is turning to where oneday, when u are raped on the streets and people just run away. the day will come. I got some feedback from similar forums that says even they ignore them they will still be pulled into the troubled waters, so what does this proves of the mindset of singaporeans? especially the selfish and cunning chinese.Originally posted by laurence82:Let me ask you a question.

Hmmm I do behave differently in different environment with different people. I don't do it on purpose, it just happens. Like if I am happy or if I am stress. of course I behave differently. And yes its common to talk about people behind their back but if its really how you feel does that counts as backstab?

I agreed that thailand is better than singapore firstly the people there are more simplier and friendly and secondly the girls there are very beautiful and they are not as snobbish and arrogant as the girls in singapore. My opinion of sg girls are they keep saying we don't need to rely on men but in the end oso rely on men to buy them cars, house and etc...The girls there are easily satisfied unlike sg girls mostly are well educated and dong bu dong say let's divorce all these. The women there mostly are like listen to the husband and treat him like a king. Husband say one word the wife dare not scold back. Wife stays at home cook meals, do housework all these unlike sg women 99% wants to go out to work and never want to stay at home to wait on the husband. Let me ask you then:
Do you really believe that the girl you like is SO PERFECT that she doesn't smoke, drink, scold vulgarities, talk behind people's back, and backstab people?
Do you really believe that your friends don't talk behind your back at all?
Do you really think that countries make alliance because they are friendly and not because they want to benefit from each other?
Do you really think that corruption does not exist here? That's just because there is no news at all.
The list could go on forever. The point is: If people don't choose to hide themselves behind their masks, then everyone will end up being suspicious of each other and choose not to trust anyone at all.
You can expect to see people fighting and killing each other on the streets everyday. Countries will be attacking each other everyday. Alliances will be broken. You won't even trust your own parents then. You will become a suspicious, self-centered, selfish arsehole who has no friends.
Everyone in this world uses one another for the sake of benefits. Everyone is hiding behind a mask.
This is something you can't change.
So what's the point of showing your true self? Like what they said, ignorance is bliss. Some things are better not to be known.
There are things which are beyond our control. For those things, it's better not to be bothered about them. -

Dunno. I hate to say this.. but i kinda agree with her. No offense, but of all my friends, its the white people who never backstab me. Even though i have been HORRIBLY treated by a few white people, it was not a backstab, they were honestly evil at least. My asian friends/peers are more competitive and undermine you with smiles and pretense.

Don't be surprised to be pushed by people you called friends if both of you are in a room filled with many ppl and fire is burning or something.. and the only way out is a small door and a tiny staircase. You might just do the same.
As for the media, well, they are just making scripts out of everyday events and to capture the audience emotion such as anger on the bad guys and hope for the good guys.. and so on. This is not Truama Show. -

U noe wat, I used to sez tt SG guys r tops. That's until all the bashing they give SG girls.
Thankfully, my guy's great, & guess wat, I dun depend on him. Not tt I'm complaining, cosh it gives me the independence & the freedom to shove words from SG guys like u rite up ur back alley.

I think not all SG girls are like that. But mostly those chio ones are very jialat. Heard many stories from friends.... I guess the talk now goes a bit out of point. Sometimes, I feel it is rather sad thing for singaporeans to be killing one another and making use of them and chucking them away when not needed. I got one JC colleague who once good friend before, we go out and I accompany him when ever he is sick and try to get help whenever possible. But now guess what? he betrayed me, he talk something bad about the guy but still be good friend of him and in the end I lose out. Singapore society is a condemn case, I finding ways to get out of here to elsewhere which is peaceful and where I can live longer instead of dealing with all day office politics

My advice : Learn thai , don't let your future thai wife know that you understand her language....then you will know whether they are talking "behind your back" in front of you.
