Acne and ProActiv

Hi ALL.
i'm suffering with acne nw, it has been a year and i've been using ProActiv for a few months. I think the solution is pretty harsh on my skin, its always red and hot after i'm finish with the whole 3 step procedure.
Can anyone share some experience with ProActiv???

I suggest you go to a specialist rather than testing out products. It'll only worsen your condition?

Think you are sensitive to Benzoyl Peroxide. Proactiv is 2.5%. Some over the counter even have 5% & max 10%.
Besides red &feeling hot, do you skin feel tight and sometimes flaky?
Probably u need to add in another step - moisturize.
Choose a moisturizer that is oil free, non-comedogenic that won't clog pores.
I recommend Neutrogena 'SPF15' for additional sun protection as your skin will be sensitive when using Proactive, or Neutrogena 'Combination' for combination skin. -
Thanks for the replies, i think you are right. i may be sensitive to the Benzoyl Peroxide. I used to apply too much on my face and it will burn so much thats unbearable.
Now, i try applying pea sized amount only on the affected area and it's not so much burning already.
I'm going to try applying small amount for another week to see if the condition will improve.

I have been using Proactive for years.Initally,i had the same problem too.
My advise is to use only once a day when your skin is still unfamiliar to it.Apply lesser toner too.Just apply a thin layer of repairing will be enough.
After you experience lesser irritation,then you can slowly increase your usage.
Proactive is a good cleanser and it has work miracles for me.Which is why i stick onto it for so many years.

Alternatively, visit a skin doctor. It's better than buying products off the rack which might turn out to be too harsh for your face. -
i have acne before too, when i was sec 2-4, when i was 17... my acne all clear.... just wash yr face twice a day, and dun touch yr face, cause yr hand is dirty!!!! i guess tis will help..... And go for facial treatment once a mth, every1 shld do tat, u shld let the expert help u clean yr face....
I went to skin care center, and they told mi to do so... and it really works......
And drink more water and have enough slp~ heehee

Quite expensive. But if it works for you, then its worth the price. -

Go to NSC(national skin centre) my fren tried lotsa facial products but all useless until she went to NSC den 1 mth can c the result liaoz..

if you are suffering from severe acne than..see doc.. if not.. just be like me hee.. buy skin care products to control.. currently using acne cleansers and night time acne treatment from simplymenz.com

I think my fren used ProActive before...and now her face looks worse than before leh...like she has red bumps all over her face most of the time...so mebbe shudn't try this product until you consult a dermatologist...Originally posted by orange pen:Hi ALL.

Hi ALL,
I think the appropriate way to use ProActiv is not to over use it.
I learned that if you only use only a small amount of the cleanser and
"GENTLY MASSAGE" it on your face, it does not irritate your skin or burn it lat all.
The secret to using cleanser with microbeads is to use it really gently on your skin. Since the formula already has scrubbing materials (mircobeads), there is not need to use extra force into it.
If the user like myself(before), insert too much force into the scrubbing, thinking that it will cleanse it more, is a total MISTAKE!!!
And following the advice from the other replies, (THANK you!), Not using too much toner and the repairing lotion helps too.
OF COURSE, EVERYTHING HAS TO BE REALLY GENTLE!!!
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, PATIENCE IS VERY IMPORTANT TOO.
