  One thing you must know about us guys is that we hardly ever look beyond the obvious. E.G. If you bake a cake for him and tell him that it was bought from 4 Leaves, he'll really believe that. Hence, it's best for you to be direct, but in a subtle way.
  
  Since he's in ODAC, that shows that he likes the outdoors. Getting him something related to sports would be good, such as a water bottle, wristband, waist pouch or even a haversack for all those expedition trips, hikes, etcetera.
  
  To further get your message across subtly, slip or tie a note to the gift, with stuff on it like, "I feel really happy hanging around with you. You're someone I really cherish."
  
  Hopefully, he get'll the hint.
