WHY NOT? Unless there are some conflicts between the two of you, like religion, family disapproval, etc etc..
Even so, all these are not supposed to stop one from loving someone from another race.
Personally,it is perfectly alright! And there are so many of such relationship all over the world. -
on the streets can see so many....

I(Chinese guy) used to have a 1/2 Chinese-Malay g/f during my uni days. It's real tough though- the ultimate question is I have to convert to Muslim in order to marry her. Though she's a 1/2 Chinese-Malay and is fairer than most Chinese, she still carries a Muslim name which is somthing I have to accept and overcome if anything is to develop in the long term.

Just being direct, dun u think it's a disgrace to your race to downgrade yourself to marry an Indian. Like it or not, you should know better how the society percieve you(though this is the 21st century, this fact remains). People may not say it out but you more or less know what they are thinkg from the way they look at you.
I hv a friend who married an Indian from India(knew him while studyg in Sydney). That guy came to Spore to work after graduation, faced some problems(work as well as family) initially.
At my workplace, there's an Indian(a Singh) who married a Chinese gal(an air-stewardess). They had a baby-gal recently. From my observation, the mother does not seem to be as loving towards the baby gal(80% Indian features) as the father. Wonder how the gal's parents accept her decision to marry an Indian in the first place.
Think it's more socially acceptable for a Chinese-Malay marriage as compared to Chinese-Indian marriage. Of course, the religion issue comes into place but they do have a civil marriage nowadays where both parties get to keep their respective religion.

And as for the example of the couple you seized above, I don't think it can directly reflect the situation or hint an problem related to Indian-Chinese combination because...
1. ONE is too SMALL a SAMPLE.
2. Marriage have the tendency to be on the rock nowadays? Despite the 'combination'...? Besides, you mentioned that the guy is having family and work problem..? So is the source or motivator of the problem (a)her husband's job (b)her husband's family problem (c)her husband/child's skin color (d)other unknown factor(s)? -
