Go for cousins from the Maternal side.
DO NOT go for cousins from the Paternal side.
NEVER go for your own sister or brother!
Failure to obey this law of nature: ~ The child will be a retard or imperfect.

I believe you you're wrong. The chances may be HIGHER, but it not what one would call a high chance.Originally posted by dibilo:hmm i think i've once read smth on this topic b4 but i cant really remember.. all i can recall is that the child they'll is going to have a high chance of being a handicap.. think twice.
Paternal - Father SideOriginally posted by GrimR:errr... wats the difference btw paternal n maternal?
WHAT IS THE RISK TO CHILDREN OF PARENTS WHO ARE CLOSE RELATIVES?'WHEN PARENTS ARE RELATIVES - CONSANGUINITY', http://www.genetics.com.au/factsheet/26.htm
The risk that those marrying a relative are more likely to have offspring with birth defects or a disabling condition is nearly always exaggerated and perceived as being higher than it actually is.
All parents who are unrelated carry a risk of between 3 and 4% (3 to 4 out of every 100 births) of having a child with a birth defect or disability.
Where parents are first cousins and there is no family history of a specific condition, or where there is no other history of parents being related in previous generations, the risk is approximately double that for unrelated parents. So the total risk of having a child with a genetic condition where parents are first cousins is around 5-6%. Looked at another way, there is approximately a 95% chance of having an unaffected baby.
However, in societies with a tradition of first cousin marriage, and where marriages are usually contracted within the community, many couples are often more closely related than first cousins and consequently their risk may be significantly higher.

Yes, you're right. I probably shouldn't have quoted your message. I apologize for that; i Should have quoted Kuero??? instead.Originally posted by dibilo:he is trying to say that he is so damn l33t. So whats so great to brag about even if you have that little bit more knowledge in a certain field?
and lwflee, if you read my post carefully, i used the words "i think", "if i remember". all these expressions points towards the fact that for whatever i've said, there is a chance of it being inaccurate. So please don't try to be so meticulous and try to pick out and exaggerate others mistake to boost ur own pathic ego.
if there is knowledge, may it be shared. everyone is trying their little bit to help others. if you are looking for credits, go else where.
please.
Oh, if you were to have quoted me, I'll probably give the similar reply as what Laguna did. Okay.. so much your knowledge. Good. I acknowledge them.Originally posted by lwflee:Yes, you're right. The problem as i see it is that the replies here and elsewhere on this board appear to point overwhelmingly to a myth. This is a widespread myth, that has even found its way into the laws of most modern countries.
That has been something that has always bothered me, and when i see that myth perpetuated yet again, i get pissed.
The danger is that the lie, repeated often enough, may become plausible. In fact, i'm not sure that has not happened already.
EDIT: PS. I am still of the opinion that my reply to you above is civil enough.
