If there is really a time machine...

  This is to address everyone here,
  
  How many of you seriously think that by going back to the past, the changes you can make will enable you to have an outcome that will satify you? Some of us may hear about the butterfly effect, which make me seriously feel that we will end up here again saying what if we have a time machine.
  
  Example for powerstation, let say we let him go back and take better care of his gf, maybe his gf still gone due to butterfly effect that mean he will still post in here saying that he shall have treat her better when she is around.

  I say we leave things just as they are... after all, we might never know what the repercussions of going back/forth in time may bring. It may open up another Pandora's Box, and we know that the World does not need any more than it already has to handle! When H.G Wells wrote "The Time Machine", I'm sure it was because he had a dream (which chances are may not materialise).

  Erm.. I think you got the concept wrong. Butterfly effect is the process whereby you went back to the past and you have the memory of the 'future'. Thus, you can change the history which lead to 'butterfly effect' like you said.
  
  However, going back with a time machine is a different thing. It's a way whereby 'you' in now going back to past which the past 'you' still existed there. That means there's two 'you' in the past. If powerstation going back to the past using time machine, he will see his girlfriend with the past of 'him'. He might be able to treat his girlfriend well when the past of 'him' isnt around. This will confuse his girlfriend as 'the past of him treat her bad' and 'the present of him treat her well'.
  
  Maybe you can also bring in movie like 'Final Destination' for those who want to save the world.

  I do not know where you get your concept of butterfly effect from but I am sure mine is not from time travelling nor form the movie "Butterfly Effect". My understanding of butterfly effect is from the nature science theory which stated that what you do now will have an effect in the future. I wont want to say too much about it for it may bored many of you to sleep.
  
  However, even though our understanding of the butterfly effect is different, I believe we do agree that time machine cant really help us much when coming to change the past for a better future. It doesnt matter whether it is just you with a memory of the 'future' or it is a 'past' you with a 'future' you working together.
  
  anyway I believe 'Final Destination' have nothing much to do with time travelling and not really much to do with butterfly effect.
