How to forget...

Have a problem that's bugged me for v long...
Stayed with my ex-bf for ~1yr but he rejected me on marriage....
So, i start looking around. When i finally left the house, he's still sending me alot of sms saying he wants me back etc.. but I'm already with someone else..
One day, i went back to take some stuff & I saw a woman in the bed. He's not in the house.. I was stunned..coz' i left the house only 3wks & he kept asking me to have dinner, lunch, etc.. wants me to go back etc..
He admited that's a karaoke lady... but i was very troubled since then... i m financially independent, i have a good job, i m not ugly, i have someone after me.. ... but i am very very troubled by this...
I rely alot on him for the past 3yrs emotionally.. even after i realise he's not going to be my man, i still regard him as my soulmate... & it's unmistakable that he still wants me back... but this incident shatters all my belief... & I did alot of crazy stuff...
I need to shake off this thing off my head.. . -

You have a complicated love life management and believe it or not, you chose it. It doesn't matter what qualities you hold - looks, money, etc. The fact remains: you chose it.
Probably the act of karmic love.
You depended on him emotionally and I believe he would have depended on you on something as well (Probably sexual or finance since you mention about your financially independent nature). This is but a mutual exchange.
Committment? You won't find it in this relationship.
Now that you have seen that woman for yourself, all the years of delusion, do you think you should come to some kind of proper closure and conclusion? Your mind refuse to accept what reality has hinted on your relationship, therefore now it show them blatantly.

I have a friend, she broke off with her ex of 5 yrs.
Well the guy wants her back but she chose to move on and persist on without going soft and let the guy win her back.
Today, she tells me she had make the most important and best decision of her life.
My friend had reacted very well to the situation....and tt is because she chose to think it thru the whole debacle.
Morale of story..Think before u react. Dont let emotion overwhelm and coloured your judgement.
U are reacting badly now cos you are not thinking.
See, if u give it a good hard thought, u will realised there is actually no need for u to create a fuzz over a loser. Someone who fark a karaoke girl... He might just have contracted aids...u never know..and never say never...

I was giggling when I read what you wrote. And yes, I belong to a water sign and I admit, I'm very cautious and usually guarded but once I let someone in to my close circle, I'm totally loyal to them (unless they prove to be unworthy of it). BUT, once I shut someone out of my life, that's it, I seldom, if ever, turn back. Give me a few really close friends... I can do without the acquaintances and fair weather buddies... -

It's hard to accept the awful truth because the truth hurts. However, in your case, the truth also cuts short the time you would otherwise have spent yearning for him, since you now see the 'real' him.
I guess you'll need to go through a period of 'mourning' the loss of the relationship first. Different folks take different periods of time but acknowledge your hurts and it might help at this stage to verbalise your feelings to close friends. Don't make the mistake of ignoring your pain or pretending it doesn't exist or burying yourself in work / social life / activities because you DO have to deal with the pain and it won't go away by pretending it doesn't exist.
After that, you'll feel numb. Then maybe, you might feel some sorta anger and that's a natural progress but it means you're working towards healing. You might also return to denial at this stage but be careful to steer yourself back onto the right path and not linger too long at the detours!
When it's all done and you're quite sure you're over him, analyse the relationship and learn from it. Don't repeat the same mistake again and be a better judge of character the next time round.

Thanks folks.. for all the kind advice.. I will do fine without him i know.. just that i need to find ways to shake that scene out of my mind... That scene is very upsetting.... even thought of going to a psychiatrist...
