And say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was yourself.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you...
all your life, whom you ignored
for another,
who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
...peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.
For after all that's said and done,
Only by learning to love yourself,
will you learn
to live unselfishly.

Define 'successful'Originally posted by devoid05:why even bother to try? the concept of self-love is too profound for my grasp, beyond the comprehension of many.
wot do we haf to lose by hating ourselves? many pple hated emselves and became successful in life all the same...
I concur... couldn't have put it better myself. Then again ~ it's all a matter of perception, isn't it?Originally posted by Tuatau:"Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."
- Matt 22:39
Self love is about fully embracing oneself unconditionally, realising one's own strengths and accepting one's own flaws. Contrary to popular opinion, self love is not about being self-centered, which stems from insecurity of not knowing oneself and hatred of one's own flaws.
When one doesn't love oneself unconditionally, the limited, judgmental, conditional love one gives oneself is all one has, to give anyone. When one sees oneself as flawed, one not only sees others as flawed, but also resents others for seeing the flaws in oneself.
If one decides, instead, to embrace oneself as one is, one would have the capacity to accept and love others as they are. Hence unconditional love for oneself, far from being an act of selfishness, is the most generous thing one could ever do.

The problem often is... People actually don't even know what they want... Or even thought that's what they wanted all along until they've gone way too far to stop... Or to go back on a reverse road....Originally posted by devoid05:success means achieving wotever you set your sights on... the more unattainable the feat, the more successful you become should you manage to achieve it.
