y sad?? nothing stay same forever.. ask urself weather u wan to continue this relationship a not.. most imptly is to communicate ask him what he wans.. else its better to cut pain short..

he doesnt tell me wats his prob that he faces at work or things that upset him..
ive tried to talk to him.. everytime will be "nothing la".. "nothing much" .. "work so so lor:...
everytime got this feeling tat meeting up on weekends is his duty only.. sigh..
we are lacking communications -

Don't be sad, dejour. You still don't know what's bothering him yet. Perhaps he is not ready to share it with you? If you try to "open" him up, maybe be subtle?
Have you folks been long together? If yes and life has been quite a routine, you may wish to suggest something different.
Anyways, I look forward to your next post to share that life's back to normal or even more interesting for you both.
Stay well and stay happy. Being sad or melancholy has an effect on people around you. Some may show compassion but some may get put off by it. Just a thought.

we are lacking communications Show him some concern...? If he's comfortable with it all, he'll probably be sharing things with you... If you feel that he might be facing certain issues back at work or something, giving him much pressure certainly wouldn't help...? 
The last thing you want emerging from your relationship when the waves are rough would be HAVING DOUBTS ARISING... The reason why it might seems that meeting ups to him are just like 'duty' could be because he's tired or something?
How long have both of you been together?
What I would suggest for now is.. Instead of starting up with more important issues of your concern, try to go for milder and more relaxing activities at this point... Something which might slow down the momentum a bit before it sets both of you on the right mood for communication again...? -

Maybe U can make an excuse to plan something romantic. It gives a good chance to communicate and rekindle some lost sparks. Do something He always likes.
Meanwhile U can write/do something for him to let him know U're there for him even if he's busy. Try to be understanding.
It shows that U're confident and U trust him. Give him some time, he might feel what u feel and say what he feels. -
