Devoted type or Flirtish type?

I've been wooing this girl for sometime already. I don't know how she feels about me but its like I take 1 step forward, she takes 1 step forward, I take 2 steps forward, she takes 1 step backwards.
That day, I was discussing with my mother that the most important thing is to get a good spouse. Then my mother compared me to my cousin saying how I've been harping on this girl for years already, while my cousin which is only 1 year older than me already had dozens of girlfriends. She's my mother, how can she not understand that I am the Devoted type?
Which do you think is better? The Devoted type or the Flirtish type? -

The Devoted type are usually the kind that can take rejections and continue pursuing their dream partner, while the Flirtish type are the kind that takes rejection and moves on. Which means the Devoted type can become rather irritating to some.
I have friend who likes this girl for about 8 years already, he SMSes the girl very often and even coaches the girl in her studies. However, the girl showed no interest in him at all. The girl already had dozens of boyfriends before but, she still treasures my friend a lot and even remembers little things like his birthday which we as his best friends can't even remember.
Although, he told me he had completely forgotten about her, I can see that he still feels rather depress whenever he hears her name. -

Is he still coaching the girl in her studies?
Does he still like her after 8 years?
The girl probably didn't want your friend as a boyfriend, but she didn't want to lose him as a "good friend" either. So it's up to your friend to choose whether he wants to move on, or to stick around and pray for the day to come when she discovers the person she has been looking for is just under her nose all along. -

Whilst in most cases, people will prefer the devoted type, I beg to differ. It depends on the situation.
1. If I'm in love with you, & am serious about you, yes, of course I prefer the devoted type.
2. However, if I'm Not in love with you, & you're just irritating me with your gestures & scaring me away, then No. I don't want you to be devoted to me & waste your time.

Errm,I think that flirty type is nice in a while, but then after a while, girls will still eventually go to the devoted types.
