  I beg to differ from the rest,
  
  just my opinion here,
  i do think that there IS a chance that people might be able to go back to the past and win back the heart of the Ex, however there must be a few elements that are present..
  
  it`s is that the love are not lost due to a 3rd party or a case of breach in trust..
  
  People do change, and there are too many reason/ excuses why people break up.. but when it happens, they only meant to seek solace from the other person,
  it could be that the situation had not allowed the couple to be what they were at that time, a very classical example would be that of a guy in NS and the gal outside..
  
  Of cuz, you guys who want to seek the old flame do not wait for them to come back themselves, it WILL never happen, but rather u can try to make frens w her again, and then u can start off all over again...
  
  it`s never too late to love/ cherish anyone, if u just might wanna start now?

  I do agree that your case may be a case of an exception rather than the rule. It CAN happen. However, from a girl's perspective, like what the girls here have said, more often than Not, when a girl gives up, it's really give up
