dere's a vertical white line on the screen of my notebook.. it isnt the lcd screen.. it appears only after i switched it on.. y is dis so? is it an internal crack? or..?

Nothing anyone of us can help here. If you're system is under warranty, you'll have to send in for servicing.

issit the defect of the LCD screen? my friend has that problem but it's after 3 years of using his laptop.

ah.. wad is graphic card? i buy not long ago.. cant b hardware prob bah.. i hardly add anythin to the notebook.. haix i guess i will send for servicin today.. so troublesome.. anyone noe how to use the same broadband for home desktop as well as notebook? as in share the same broadband plan..i dun wanna get another plan.. ex sia.. -

what does your notebook support - wireless and/or wired? notebook brand and model?
which do you prefer? wired setup is much cheaper but you can only be at one
location to access it. wireless setup costs slightly more if 801.1b speeds
is consistent around your house. if not, then 801.1g which costs further more.
btw, is yr broadband modem usb or ethernet connector? usb is very thin, ethernet is like your phone line connector but slightly bigger. must be ethernet modem. ask yr isp how much to change to ethernet modem.
anything you want can be done.

it's below budget. what can be done to drive down cost is getting secondary market than new hw if u dont mind.
so the thing is what hw do u have now? from what u say about yr modem,
it's not the ethernet adsl modem but a standard 56k modem (cos it can take in
phone line): ethernet adsl or cable modem takes in ethernet line.
what is the isp plan u have and modem brand-model given to u?
if it's usb modem, ask how much to upgrade to ethernet modem. if it's cable modem (by starhub), then don't need to get a separate ethernet modem - cable modem is fine.
does yr notebook have Intel Centrino wireless?
btw, secondary market for ethernet modem and wireless router is about $60 and $80 resp. And if phone-diy setup doesnt work out, onsite help will cost $30 for 1st pc, $20 for 2nd pc and so on. -

Yea true... Servicing sux... I got a prob too but waiting till holiday then send in...
The broadband plan can stay the same...
Jus hv 2 buy something called a "Modem/Router"...
Desktop connect by wire. Laptop connect wirelessly.
Check ur laptop specifications for something like "802.11 b/g wireless LAN". If don hv, then need 2 buy "wireless card adapter".

Regarding the LCD screen problem, you can roughly guess it's a hardware problem. If you want to test if its the software , check to see if the line appears when you plug a real monitor to the monitor output. (remember to switch screens)

As for wireless, you can get advice from the ISP or pay them to fix it up for you. If you already have a wired connection and want to change to wireless, I assume you dont have a wireless ADSL modem?
I juz a junkie who fixes from modems/routers/servers, now out-of-job will be happy to advice but will like to receive payment for a home-call. -

go check out singnet and starhub promos. they may give u free modem.
if singnet, ask for ethernet modem, not usb (may have to top up a little).
if starhub, ask for cable modem with ethernet rj45 port.
now know this: bb prices may fall next yr, so sign up a short bb plan. -
