Thinking abt the future

Have you ever thought of how you would be doing maybe arounjd 10 years from now? Esp to those who are stil studying, do you already know what job you want to have?
When I first got here, I was just 19. Foolishly, I chose a course that I would later regret, because I don't have neither the talent nor the interest in it. I would like to have my own business one day, but then I feel like my education now is going to waste...*sigh* -
Take heart. Many people don't eventually work in jobs related to what they have studied.
Try not to think of education as solely what you can get from your textbooks or lecture notes. If it'd help, perhaps you could think of education as a means to develop your thought process?
Enjoy your days in the university or college. You'll miss them.

As for me, I am doing a Part time IT degree but my line of work is not totally related to IT at all.
It started this way, when I left army I took up part time diploma course just to upgrade myself. Being lose after army do not now what to do? So took up diploma in IT. After graduate, found a job from the paper. It says IT administrator. Not bad for a first job But when I went interview then I realised its not entirely IT job. And the boss told me that he put the wrong Ad on the paper. 
I was desparate for a job and do not want to look no more so I decided to take this job. I was outsource to an BIG firm. Working there for a year and was converted to permament staff and of course benefit and pay increased when I moved over. But its been like 3 years now...I am sick and tired of what I am doing right now...hiaz...
Ok...I just want to get a degree thats all. As for what line I will be in the future I don't care as long as the $ is good. -
Already thinking of what to do liao..and ya..all these months trying out, now I know what I really like to do.

everything happens for a reason... u must look objectively at it... u might hv chosen a course which u are not particularly strong in, but think of the many things that u have learnt from it... from there, think of how u can use these exp to add value to the things u want to do...
i for one have also gone thru the stage whereby i m clueless abt my wants for the future, n taking a course which i had to struggle a lot... but at the end of the course, i realised that i have learnt many more things which i know i will nv have the chance to exp if i had taken other courses... not to mention the many predicaments that i have been in, and how miraculous that i somehow managed to get past each obstacle... on hindsight, each of these exp has given me many valuable lessons which i can appreciate better now n use for the future...
i would say if u are really interested in having ur own business, y not try to plan for it and see if itz feasible? if u have the financial means and ideas, n of course guts, i would say u should have a go at it... whether it is a failure or success remains to be seen, but u must put ur heart n best efforts into it once u r committed in doing something... good luck for the future..

Thanks for all the replies...I guess I did learn about a lot of things while I am taking this course. One of them is being independent and being brave to try out your idea. I have a lot of ideas but I am not sure if they are feasible or not. Like in my writing class we were asked to write a business proposal, I easily came up with an idea that everyone in my group raved about and the instructor was pleased about it as well. But this kinda idea...it is not feasible in real life. In real life, there is a lot of things to consider, esp the money and financial aid part...

10 years is a long time... i dun like to think too far. in fact, i dun even want to plan what modules i am going to take this sem. scally bid point too high lah... exam clash lah... then qi myself to death...

don't worry about it...
sometimes, in fact, most of the time, the paper is just a key to your job... i've returned all of what i learnt except how to make friends
if you keep at it, you'll be well...

i don't want to rain on your parade but you don't seem capable of jacksh.it.
if all else fails, i know a good place in lorong 8...not much skills involved but lying on your back is a prerequisite...

just think a little about the future......afterall everyone need to lay some path for our future.....
then again don't think too hard. 10yrs too long to think about..cos seriously who can predict the future..maybe we think it should move left, then we go all out to work on it, sekali it moved right...
looking back 10yrs ago.....i didn't expect the employment market would be this bad....and things are moving so fast....
sigh....should hv exercise more, at least i would be in a better shape to 'catch- up' without having to gasp so hard for oxygen... -

Have you heard of the song, WHAT WILL BE WILL BE? The future is not for us to see. Even if it is only 10 years. I think you should just do things which you have the PASSION for. This will ensure that you will put in your best efforts and maximise the use of your time. The rest leave it to GOD. Man proposes, God disposes. Just take things in its stride.

what i told him is that, the main thing is not u looking back and reflect on the mistakes and regrets in ur life.. it is about learning from these mistakes and not doing it again.. at the same time, try to salvage as much as u can. even if u can salvage back only 10% of those, it is still better than not doing anything when u know u can do it. -

anyway, talking about the future... i'm kinda apprehensive for the new term... dunno if i can get back to studying mood after 3 months of working life... the only thing the future promises me is that i can take a few modules with friends unlike the past sem.. i shall take heart. -
