Is ITE really that bad?

Funny last time why after ITE u dun think of earning and saving bucks instead of getting a diploma?Yr cert ok la quite decent but it would be better if you had an anger management cert. Sian already. Too much exposure for ITE students. Always news on them going to University. Dun u realise it's just to motivate you. Sure u can be a grad but after donkey years after one who did not go ITE. TO prove wat? To prove to others u can do it? And do wat? Do what everyone else who effortlessly did what you achieved years ahead. Dun waste time go ITE la. Waste 2 years still have to wear uniform. Go poly and save 1 year.

anyway .. hope my colleague's example can spur u on to greater things in life. Although she regretted not studying properly in sec, she certainly made up for lost time. She is currently doing her PhD and will be a doctor in 2 yrs. she''ll only be 29 then .. not bad for an ITE graduate eh?
ignore what everyone says ... ITE is certainly not a dead end. strive hard yah!

True. it is not how fast or slow you complete or rather achieve your degree or even masters. It is how you want to path your career. Define your priorities and capabilities. Pursue what you think that suit you best.
Remember one thing, not everyone has the opportunity and ability to pursue education like wat the rest have achieved. -
So the choics is yours.....go for ITE if you feel you have to take things one at a time. In Singapore...you need a certification to increase your chances of getting yourself employable.

ITE is just a stepping stone for you to go to poly.. in singapore people go for money instead of wat passion..
I believe poly have more courses that patdog112 has interest in compare to ITE right?
patdog112, i myself also dropped from Sec 2 exp to Sec 3NA, i can make it to poly and why not you? i almost went to ITE during my Sec 4NA, believe in urself and strive for it..

the point many ppl are making here is that
1. ITE is not a dead end
2. do not conform to societal rules that once u enter ITE .. It's The End
we are not encouraging him to go ITE but rather.. even if he doesn't qualify for poly, he will still have a fighting chance in life. -

ite is nt hopeless la. for example ite clementi we hav to meet a 95% attendance otherwise u get expelled etc. i waz from there n now i'm in a poly doin bankin n financial services. dun give up. ya its tru tt ite has alot of black sheep but tt doesnt mean u shud stereotype. nt all ite students curse swear n cnnt study etc etc!

ITE is not It's the end. ITE = Is Towards Excellent.
ITE not that bad as you think. You can excel in that though you might think you have waste two years over there. Nothing is being wasted even if you go poly does not mean you will be good over there. For you info, do not go to Bishan ITE. The life there is very boring one.I suggest you go to other ITE. -
My advice is: don't believe the bad press about ITE.
The general public seems to have a negative viewpoint of ITE - nothing much you can do about that. You can, however, show them just how wrong they are about ITE. If they want to think badly about ITE, let them be.... if you believe that going there will help you to succeed in life, then you should go for it. In the end, you should go for whatever option in life that makes you happy.
Just remember... success can take many forms. It does only entail a high-level paper qualification. One of my friends dropped out of JC after failing her JC 1 Promo exams. People expected her to drop 'out of sight, out of mind'. In the end, she became an actress, and is now a rising star on the Malay channel. She also got married, and now lives happily with her husband in her own home.....

According to what i know the HQ is in DOver but that was years ago and i am not sure if its moved...u can check the website above.
My advice is if u think retaking your O level to improve grades so that you can go to a better or disired course in JC or Poly then be it. but if you feel that it is time to move on but at a regular pace tthen you can try ITE. after NS (if u a guy) you can get a full time job and take hold of your direections in life to see what u really want. it is life as a working adult that makes u see and understand more of your wants and needs.
fyi now even ITE upgraded and not any one wif failed O level can go there and hope to study...they are getting picky. -

I'm currently a JC1 student. Just want to tell you about my friend.
She was from N(A), and studied that extra year to take her O's. Now she's in a JC. She got tops in her class for GP (!) , but she's struggling a little with her maths cos she didn't take a maths. Chem is also hard. Econs she seems okay with. She's hired a tutor to help her. I believe that she'll go to university.
Ultimately, your choice will depend on how hard you are willing to work. -
i have got an ex class mate back in ITE..got straight distinctions and As...after NS (he's with the SCE) he got bursary from gahment and contiunued with full time poly...went overseas (again supported by gahment) for university education graduated came back now as ITE instructor.
