if she said no... be a man, whether or not she said it jokingly. if she can tell u jokingly no, it means she's not serious in u at all... if she's not sure, she would at least say no seriously.
my take is this, if she says no, just let it be, let her feel the loss that she made by saying no to you. then when she kinda lost you, she will appreciate u more and u will see her trying to contact u more and hoping to turn things around, that's when u try again. u have to look at the signs... not her words.
humans are like that, when u have too much of something, satisfaction gained from that thing drops, but when u have lesser, u are willing to pay more for that satisfaction.. that's marginal utility....applies to many things hhehee -
