i have recently found a lump and im really worried

earlier on today i found a lump in my boob. this lump is quite big and hard. my boobs have been quite sore the past few weeks. i am beginning to really worry about this and have no idea what it could be
. has anyone got any idea what this lump might be and could this be serious? -
first thing on monday, go to the hospital and get it checked by the hospital...
early detection and intervention will save you a lot of suffering later..

If it large and runs around when you feel for it, it is probably a benign tumour. But if it is large, painless and does not move around (stays fixed in one place), then it is very suspicious of malignancy. In any case, you need to see your doctor asap...he can put a needle into it and suck out some cells for the pathologist. The pathologist will examine it under a microscope and tell you if it is benign or malignant very quickly.

what does benign mean? i cant go to the doctor as that means i would have to tell my mother and i could not tell her this at the moment as i do not wish to worry her too much as she is pregnant at the moment. can i get this sorted at my family planning clinic?

benign = it's just there, and not harmful...

try not let ur thought goes wild. if anything not as good, then u start worry...but not now when nothing is cfm. try to relax and GOOD LUCKS to u.

boobs is an important assets to women,since u found a lump better treat it seriously be visiting a family doctor,or a female doctor then c e results,and in e mean while,do not anyhow guess.

oh ya, after the extraction the cells the area will swell abit. will subsidy for 2 days. i hv done the extraction for my lymh nodes at the neck.

or just go polyclinic and let them have a look first... but this kind of thing the earlier u get it scanned the better...

BTW, how old r you???? If you are young (ie. less than 40) you r in the lower risk group of developing cancer .....
But again..... nothing is 100% for sure.....go for a check up first to confirm....
Most likely to be benign....dun worry too much.....
I have my lump extracted recently too...been since given the clean bill of health......

Ah jie Zoe Tay also said the breasts will feel sore and lumpy hard . Consult your doctor to check that everything is ok. You mother can tell you her experiences if you consult her.

Go have it checked. There's no point worrying, just get it checked. And in case if anything happens, at least it's still in time for treatment.
I lost a friend due to cancer. And my girlfriend's auntie can barely make it past these 2 or 3 days.
I ain't saying this to scare you, just to remind you that when there's a problem, get it fixed.

im 14 years old. no it would not be from milking as i have no children and do not wish to have any or a few years yet. i have also found a lump in my other boob but it is bnot as hard as the 1 in my left. i will get it checked out at the doctors asap but that probs will nt be for 5 days. if i see the doctor, how long approximately will it be before i find out if it belign or malignant?

I think they will conduct a biopsy test on you, then they shud be able to tell u the result quite fast... -
A lump can be one of the following:
- a cyst
- an infection in the breast
- changes in the ducts and milk-producing glands
- a benign or malignant tumour (benign = harmless, malignant = harmful)
Most lumps (about 80%) are harmless, but there's no sense in taking any chances, is there?
Go see a General Practicioner about this - if he or she can't sort it out on the spot, he or she will be able to refer you to a specialist.
If you do need a test carried out, it will be either a mammogram or ultrasound scan. Both are non-invasive (no entry of anything through skin), and it will take a few days to get the results. If the doctor wants to be really sure that the growth is not malignant, you'll need to do a biopsy where a tissue sample is taken out of the lump for analysis. The results will also take a few days.
As everyone else has already said, it's better to play safe. Go set up your appointment ASAP!

Call polyclinic & fix appt for mammogram- cost only $50, get results within a few days. For pte. clinic - it is abt $100.
