Seriously, learning is a life-long process. If you have difficulty learning the slightly advanced basics... it only tells you to change your methods of learning. I know of people who never do revisions and rarely do assignments, and yet they can soar. They are the ones who study smart. Not some dead-set memorising work. These people learn... not remember... You have to understand the difference before you can truly soar or, to aim a little lower, even do decently for your school work.
"There is a fine line between learning and memorising, everyone else is on the 'memorising' side. All I did was to step out, and across to the other side."
That's what my friend says... which is true. He may not be the one who scores the highest... but he is definitely the one with higher IQ compared to many who score higher than him. Why? That's because he is one of the few who treasure knowledge... and seek to understand more. The others are just content in knowing that something happens a certain way and not know WHY. The ultimate question... "Why?" not... "What?"
