regrets?

Recently I've been thinking, exactly what I want to see when I look back on my uni life .. how many of you actually have friends at uni ??
After my O levels, I went to Sydney, Australia and did my foundation .. had the time of my life .. so many friends so many memories ..
but now .. shifted to melbourne, all my friends stayed in sydney .. and .. i can't help but feel that life kinda sucks .. i know no one in uni .. all the people in my faculty are mainly assholes .. and the only "friends" i have made so far have all gotten entangled in a web of endless politics against each other ...
I don't go to the singapore student association gatherings .. i mean .. mostly poly graduates .. and i'm 17 .. the age gap there is massive .. and I hate to say this but god are they immature .. wtf .. 23yrs old still act cute?? Not to be judgmental and I'm sure there is a deeper side to them .. it's just alot harder to get along when you're the "kid".
What's the use of good results, and eventually a good career, if the path getting there has been so unrewarding?

I mean I am glad my friends from singapore .. sydney .. the rest of the world have not forgotten about me .. but .. it really sucks to be alone still ..

Dont give restriction to yourself on the age group of friends. When you are out in working society there will be lots mrore age differences. I would be rather upset if a younger friend think I am too old to socialise with him/her.
Learn to get to know more about a friend before you judge them on their outer. Alot of my ex colleage who are my buddies already are 10 years older than me. then alot of school friends are younger than me. Mixing with difference age group let me learn different things also. Regardless of what age, I am sure there will be something to chat about, its just whether you want to talk or not. -

mayb u could learn to try to adapt to the new environment n try to get to know the people ard u more (even tho u find them actin cute)..? but still, its a long way before u graduate.. so try puttin in some effort in makin ur uni life as fulfilling n enjoyable as possible

It's true that the journey is important, but it would be a tragic waste to throw everything away just because of social issues.
I think you should give it more time and be more open and widen your social circle. Explore more groups / societies and get to know more people. You seem like a funny and personable guy. see that's why i like the forums .. nobody ever knows who you are .. the enigma is perfect .. you can yak away all you want and nobody will give more than 2 shyts and nobody knows who you are .. you can choose to reply whoever or whatever ..

seriously, i don;t understand why they create this "singapore association" in those unis. what they are doing is just another mini-singapore where they totally neglect the point of an overseas education : to immerse in the culture, to know the locals, to assimilate into their daily lives.
in those mini-singapore, you just continue to have your singlish, your kiasu-ism, lots of gossips, backstabbing, etc. No wonder the aussies look down on us.
