Why do people associate metrosexuals to GAYS?

i hate it when people say that i'm gay esp behind my back. i've always liked girls and i try my best to look and smell good to impress them, its personal hygiene too. i'm a guy who does not watch soccer but choose to go shopping which is considered a girl hobby. many ppl say i'm girly because i like most of the things girls like. but whenever they associate the word "gay" with me, it gets me mad.
i agree i'm quite metrosexual but NOT gay!!! i have a liking for a girl in my school already man. WHY DO PEOPLE SAY i'm GAY?!

i am the only boy in my family with the exception of dad. when my friends visited my house and came into my room they thought it was my sis's room.. even a GIRL scolded me gay. i feel so sad.
but i think she's only joking. she loves all the things in my room like my soft toy collection.. and everything. i clean up my room very nicely it even has a soft sofa with heart shaped cushions, aroma terapy all that.. and a full length mirror meaning it can see whole body. since i spend 1/3 of my life in my room sleeping why not make it a nicer place? -

I understand how you feel. Well, not quite actually. Similarly, I am also a metrosexual. Although there are not many people who associate me with gays (well maybe several of them had such thought in their mind but never actually voice it out in front of me), I am in every way a man despite liking shopping, going for facials, keeping my skin soft and smooth as well as the occasional visit to the manicurists.
Like you, I am sexually-attracted to girls and am 1000% positive that I am a heterosexual. Many girls had made an advancement to me but I turned them down nonetheless. I am sure you have rejected quite a few women yourself since most metrosexuals pride their beauty so much. A relationship would only be detrimental to their state of beauty (I am not going to clarify in this since you are a metro yourself).
Some has came up to me and blatantly questioned me if I were gay. I did not feel surprised or insulted. Instead, I brushed them off with a half-jokingly firm no.
Whatever it is, I have led a happy life as a metrosexual as far as I know. I am endowed with many loves from many people; albeit unrequited.
Be happy that you are a metrosexual. Most metrosexuals are beautiful and perfectionist beings. I deem metrosexual as an embodiment of a perfect man. Perfection is only achieved when masculinity and femininity compliment each other.

And manicures are pretty common among men. It doesn't mean that you go to manicurists to PAINT or DECORATE your nails. What if you are there to file your nails in such a way that it will look neater and more pleasant. Constant visit to manicurists also maintains your hygiene.

Dude~ "little bags" and "hand bags" are two very different bags you know. I do have both hand bags and little sling bags. However none of those bags are exclusively meant for women in the first place. All are either unisex or for men. And "hand bags" is a general name. It could mean garment bags, messenger bags, totes, suitcases, shoulder bags and etc. I carry Vuitton Pochette Bosphore, Sac Bosphore and the Gucci messenger bag FNR 1000; all of which are very popular among metros. Furthermore, I do not spend on nice SUITES. I prefer tops from MiuMiu, Helmut Lang, Junya Watanabe and Paul Smith. I lean towards the trendy-but-high-end fashion instead of the overly mainstream labels like Hugo Boss or Burberry.
I do not have only nice suits and nice shoes. I have a 5500-dollar LV Trench Coat, 13800-dollar Franck Muller watch and a quarter million dollar car. To even begin with, I spend close to 680 USD on spas and micellaneous grooming products and services.

Metrosexual.. it was a term coined by a queer (as in homosexual) theorist called Mark Simpson in 1994. Made even more popular by that tv progam Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Do u knw wat it means? It means a guy who takes care of himself, pampers himself, knowledgeable about fine foods n I dont think a soft toy collection/pillows is part of it.
Perhaps its the need for humanity to categorise each other n give them labels so we can feel comfortable with the 'difference'.
Men who like to look their best but are straight go against the old cultural norms, so we got scared and compared them to the homosexual but then on the insistance that these 'new men' where in fact straight we tried to compare them to the 'classic' straight man but this did not work either as the straight man said 'NO' we dont do grooming, then we were left with the image but nothing to call 'it' so we invented one.

metrosexual men tend to behave in effeminate ways, even though they like girls. but to the average girl, they might not be able to see them as GUYS. even other guys might not see them as REAL guys. perhaps that is why?

If that is the decision you made so be it. Just ignore what other people say. Unless you yourself have judged others who are different than you and belittle them than expect the same from others.
Metro is no different from a person who might like certain things or have certain habits that are different from the norm. As Badzmaro said, Otakus are one of them. I am sure some of you have judged others who are different from you. So why BIATCH when others judges you. Unless you have never commit such a sin than feel free to shoot back at those who accuse you.
It doesn't matter if you are a metro, a freak, an otaku, or others, as long as you show respect for others choices and they respect yours. Than the world will be awhole lot better place to live in.
