Question about studies

May I know of the requirements needed to take As as a private candidate? Must I pass at least 5 O-levels subjects or can I just enter? Is there any good schools to recommend?
Reason: I took Os last year yet didn't study hence scoring 27pts only. Thought would be better this year, but I was disappointed in the end. Ended up playing so much I took less than a week of studies to the examination hall. I know that my scores won't get me into jc, which is why i was thinking of thinking private As. Will be studying really hard, as I'll be cramming two years in one. I really don't want to waste anymore time. As I was from bmc academy, my impression of it isn't that good. So I was wondering if there are any better schools, and the requirements to take As. -
you can go to Millenia Institute, L1R4 below 20 can liao. I take any age also can. But their course is also 3 yr same like poly.

I don't want to waste three years. Cause for guys, you still have to take in consideration, NS. It is a waste of youth though it is for the defence of the country.

Better to waste 3 years than take like 1 year to study A levels..can pass meh? I don't think there's a shortcut to good results, and yes, I assume you are a guy, but it is not a waste of youth, The important thing here is getting a cert and entering into a Uni.
If you don't want 3 years, can take private diploma lor, only 2 years nia if i'm not wrong

Frankly speaking, juz choose a private course that u like and go to a private school. Dun waste your time in A levels when u're not doing well in ur 'O' level. Well As are nver easy and u've risk taking it.
Calculate it with ur probability formula or learn the new Risk Management to do it!
But really, it's not worth a try, and like what someone up there says... Guys still hav to go thru NS. -

but then my advice to the thread starter is to redo 'O's...
U think 'A's like 'O's like that ar?U cannot clear 'O's....I dont think U can clear 'A's....somemore U want to squeeze 2 years JC into 1 year...or U want to tell me U are much smarter than the entire JC+Pre-U cohort?

BMC is just for the deferment letter only...U depend on them for studies...no hope already lar... -

Ya, A levels is much tougher than O's. Especially those pure sciences, I think must spend lots of time in lab..2 years already very gan, but 1 year, hmm, maybe you can do 18 hrs of tution plus work everyday, but still won't get you anywhere

k, my advice for you....
take up a diploma (be it private or govt recognized institutions) rather than As.
it is already fairly common for diploma holders to pursue degrees eventually.
I've gone through the O
A Diploma University route. All full time and at local tertiaries, no less.

MOE is changing new syllabus for JC starting next yr. See yesterday's ST.
Don't think a pte. sch. can prepare u for it cos very difficult to cramp 2 years' work in one.
"A' level more difficult from "O'. Also got project work which is counted for University entry.
It is better if u go to MI. 3 yrs not very long. -
i think JC is the most difficult phase of your education life if you have been through it. The baptism of fire you had went through will definately make you a deserving student in the University.

JC is shortcut to UNi, so of course harder

i think it would be better for u to enter a poly instead
most ppl are talking about poly students not being able to enter Uni, but this is untrue. you still can enter Uni with satisfactory grades in poly too.
spend one more year to get a diploma, at least its better than the A levels cert, which cant bring you anywhere
the most impt thing is whether ur really willing and motivated to work hard. education is not about how fast you get all ur certs in the shortest amount of time. its about the journey and experiences you gained which is more impt. -
i wont advise it. for one you will not have the guidance if you do private and with no guidance it can be pretty hard.
2nd you yourself admitted that for this year you also never study do you think when you go private you will pia? i doubt it + doing the whole jc stuff in one year while very muich possible is not easy and can put you off and make you play even more
