this colleague is new to the department (in fact only 3 wks after i join the company) but he's with the company for 4-5 yrs liao.
I really cannot tahan as he very blur and takes long time to learn things..
I dont dare to say him or voice out to my manager as he's in the coy much longer than i am...
sometimes he can be reading newspaper while we're trying to solve problem!
feels like screaming at him...
how can i tell him without sounding harsh? I really need him to take some load off my shoulder, but a lot of things i dont dare to depend on him to do

Try to find out what kinda relationship he is with your manager 1st... Also see what kinda mentality is your manager... It's really not that wise to 'anyhow complain' about people when you're only 3 weeks old in a new company, as you might 'die' without even knowing what happened to ya...?Originally posted by thoreldan:haiz....

I suggest you just let him be and get things done yourself. I don't think the task is so difficult that you need him to be involved. Even if he doesn't get involved, its not any of your business why he is not. So stay out of other people's affairs and just concentrate on doing your own job task well. -

Never say die. If he doesn't do his part, let him be. End of the day all the credit goes to you, issn't that great? Bosses have eyes, they know who is working and who is not. Agreed, but getting recongnised is just one of the few aspects of job satisfaction. It really depends on what kind of satisfaction thread starter wants out of this job. first thing first, as they said, just do it even if you don't understand, its for your own good.
if you want a much more simpler version, maybe i have an example for you right here which i had just experienced myself last 2 months.
if you want to complain, find out ur slacker's relation with the manager then move accordingly...don't do stupid moves like i did, though i know how close they are together (in my case)
if you want to complain, get yourself ready with a complaint letter, together with all the support that you can get from your other hardworking personnels in the office by signing On The Paper (to prove that they support you physically and not morally)
long explaination needed...so i shall not elaborate more...if whatever you do in a new environment....always get the support first...
for my case, i didnt get physical support so i lost my job and was jobless for 1 and the half months back.
learn from my mistake alright?

3 weeks nia, and u think u are already better than someone..

you have fallen for one of the oldest trick. He is just waiting for you to screw up or finished the job and "then he come in like a know it all". And claim the credit. All he needs is just one min to convince superiors he is the know it all.
i have seen too many of such people. He and the manager may be working buddies previously.
What you need to do is to protect all your work in written order, like report, personnel involved, and submit work details.
