I'm in my mid-twenties, but I still feel like I have not achieved wat i want...especially when you compared with some friends, i know diff people will have diff expectations abt wat they want.
Have you achieved wat you want?
Nope, to begin with, the job I m working now is not even what I wanted to do in the first place but I have managed to stay on the job for approximately six years. The salary is peanuts compared to people (in the same job as me) in other companies. Job satisfaction is something I haven't felt a long time ever since two years ago.Originally posted by *genie*:In terms of salary, job satisfaction, etc....

You're just so lucky! How many people can be like you...sometimes, I feel luck plays a major role in a career....Originally posted by Troy437:I got what I have without even planning for it.
I became senior with time and eventually got recognised.
Strange that ppl gave me thr recognition...nv fought for it. I did what i liked..and they liked it when I did it best.![]()

heng not fulltime.
Totally agree. And as for the question have I achieved what I want in my career, definitely not, I'm an under achiever. But tell you what, be positive and don't be so hard on yourself. I know of very smart people and they can't take achieving less than what they should and they commit suicide, how smart is that to place an unnecessary burden on yourself that eventually lead to illness and in their case, death?Originally posted by starExcaliblur:Why compare with your friends, the more you compared, the more inferior you will feel. Since you are in your mid-twenties, you had plenty of time to achieve what you want in your career. Just list down the goals, determine which are long-term ones, which are short-term ones and make the effort to go for it.
Nay... In life it's often not that tight a $ issue I'm after... No doubt the more the merrierOriginally posted by bodobin:Well, what do you mean by regulate yourself? Re-look at what you have been doing for the past years?
For me, I think it is very important to have a goal in life. If you are looking at an income level of $X in 10 years time, plan backwards and ask yourself what do you have to do to achieve that. If your current job/business cannot enable you to do that, is it still worth the toil doing all these, knowing that you may never who you want to become in 10 years' time?
I feel that the younger one starts to strive for freedom instead of security, the easier it'll be, because there are less burdens - mortgages, cars, families... just like I am free of all these because I am 21 and if anything wrong happens to the businesses, I will still have a family to rely on.
Well, just thinking aloud here...[/quote]
