but it is damn stupid for them to ask Chinese actors to act as Japanese geisha...
and the most stupid of them is that when the story is about Japanese geisha, they actually used english in the movieOriginally posted by jus_a_ger:quite true.. but its okies la, take it as a chance to let chinese actors noe more abt jap culture lor. i m still reading the book halfway, very thick. the book not bad, so i was tinking if the movie will be nice.![]()

Yea the small girl who played Chiyo is damn pretty for such a small age.. Anyway I've watched the movie and the weird thing is not about English being used or Chinese actress acting as Japanese characters but a small 9 year old girl falling in love with a man not good looking at all and so old enough to be her father. Thats so weird man.. I guess instead of MILF there is a new term for this, which is FILF.. Pretty but weird..Originally posted by hyperactivechatterbox:LMAO! I saw the video! I was laughing all over.
Well... in my opinion, I felt the movie was a little rushed at times, and yet a little slow at times. The book was better, in the description, but the colours was great. I especially loved the fantwirling and dances, but I thought Sayuri was rather scary in the blue, etheral light of the dance. The sorrowful dance... The extremly high heels...x.x And... everybody looked so gorgeous! I think the actress who played Chiyo would grow up to be very pretty.
Actually... Some cacausians don't know the difference between Chinese, Japanese and Korean. It was designed to appeal to them anyway... *shrugs* Besides, the role of "Sayuri" had been offered to some other famous actresses, one korean, before Zhang Zi Yi. However, they all refused, the korean actress seeing how it would...well, offend her country, and they wouldn't like her... Zhang Zi Yi who acted in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" had already offended China, seeing her in a japanese show, not to mention this "Memoirs of a Geisha", seeing how the timeline was during the world war two, the sensitive area, and the thought of a chinese woman acting as well, a japanese "prositute" for japanese man. ( That's not what I think, I read the book. ) Well... yes. Oddly, nothing was said against Gong Li. ( She is so beautiful! >_< ) Michelle Yeoh looked very ncie with her dyed hair...Originally posted by dinky1409:Yea the small girl who played Chiyo is damn pretty for such a small age.. So pretty... Mameha is one of my favourite characters. That is the best they could manage, I suppose? Nobu-san...Originally posted by Jerina:Yeah...the drawback is that Michelle Yeoh looked so modern and urban in the movie with her layered hair streaked brown. And yeah, it's a lil paedophilic coz the old man got together with young Sayuri in the end.
Lovely soundtrack though..and the kimonos are pretty. Zhang Ziyi looks pretty too but her contact-lens-ed blue eyes disturb me... coz they look TOO artificial.

ya comparing between her screen looks n actual looks in the screens she has blue eyesOriginally posted by hyperactivechatterbox:Ummm....aren't they the same person? Both of the pictures are nice, but I think her hair tied in a braid is nicer....
