i monkey see-ed and do-ed... and now i'm down a path i'm not interested in. I'm diverting back to the path i was meant to take. but i wouldn't say that the wrong path didn't help me at all. it just opened my eyes to appreciate the next path i'll be taking.Originally posted by Hocklez:i mean i really got no ambitious now, ya police, fireman, teacher when i am young but i am not a confuse state, ya if i go poly, i will go biotech or med, life sciences, but i am still not assure of what i wanna do, am i just monkey see and monkey do from my friends' action?

you won't know what you want to do now. so do most of the students at your age. i would give this advise, follow your interest. or whatever course that will help you in your interest.
the turn back route is not far at all, you're barely finding your specialisation. tell that to people who suddenly have to change jobs and have to go back to school and re-learn new stuff.Originally posted by Hocklez:what if i go jc and one day some of my friends who went poly came out to be so successful and me still a nobody with a bad a lvl cert? i mean it is really human's mentality right?
no one will like to deal with this type of situation. pri sch is a choice of em1 or e2, then which sch u wana go and then in upper sec, more diff subjects... i mean yes, it is able to differs us from each of our talents but the turn back route is really far now, if u don like the course or the route are in, u still have to stick to it for a long time.
lol so you are worried that you will be less successful then ur friends lah? ask urself if you go poly are you sure you will be as successful as them? been successful there are many way to achieve, nto necessary to get it by study. you study cos you want to gain knowledge rather then expecting to earn big buck.Originally posted by Hocklez:what if i go jc and one day some of my friends who went poly came out to be so successful and me still a nobody with a bad a lvl cert? i mean it is really human's mentality right?

jc actually gives me a excuse thinking what i wan to do in the future. i mean i really donno what to do in future... business, life sciences... i mean it is really towering me...Originally posted by kopiosatu:the turn back route is not far at all, you're barely finding your specialisation. tell that to people who suddenly have to change jobs and have to go back to school and re-learn new stuff.
so i take it that you want an A level cert? is there something you want to do in future that compels you to join a JC?
there is no 'safety' if you don't work. i would say, unless you are academically inclined then go for poly. which will bring you to the same question. what do you want to do?Originally posted by Hocklez:jc actually gives me a excuse thinking what i wan to do in the future. i mean i really donno what to do in future... business, life sciences... i mean it is really towering me...
jc lets me enter uni if my a lvl permits but what if i can't? i will have noting to fall back on man...
may i ask if poly route is really that safe? haiz
ya like ah lau had told me, no matter jc or poly, u just have to work hard to succeed.Originally posted by strikefreedom:lol so you are worried that you will be less successful then ur friends lah? ask urself if you go poly are you sure you will be as successful as them? been successful there are many way to achieve, nto necessary to get it by study. you study cos you want to gain knowledge rather then expecting to earn big buck.
unless you are goverment scholar then you can become "successful" after ur study else there no gurantee man it all depend on ur hardwork and not just that piece of paper which we convet so much.
i think problem solving is something you learn as you live your life, not determined by grades.Originally posted by Hocklez:ya like ah lau had told me, no matter jc or poly, u just have to work hard to succeed.
my life have been widen up ever since i starting working in the society, cert is noting but a piece of laminate papers, it is ur skill that can be placed into good use that really matters. someone told me, even if both of us comes out from same sch or courses where the other party got a better grade, he will still be at advantage since he is able to solve problems shoot at him during interview.

Econs: who cheaper, poly or Jc? Transport is 100% Adult fare for poly students.
Road to higher learning: who easier? Sadly, a lot of poly students cannot get into
local uni, other then SIM, after grad. Yes, there are some examples of poly grads who are paid high, but a much more secured position with better bargaining power for pay is the grads.
And if you are thinking of going into engineering, I suggest you to think twice.
Nothing wrong with engineering, but more of pain and suffering when you grad.
Engineers in SG are the lowly paid compared to the job they have to do, sometimes, the AE is paid better.
Hope this helps.
