What's a good eating place on a date?
Not too extravagant or grand since not celebrating Valentine's Day, but also not appear too stingy or cheapo like a food court. -

Actually, if the Morton's here is the same as in the US, then you're right, you can dine there on a budget
The Morton's in the US serves up free steak sandwiches at the bar. So if you order 1 drink, you can sit there & enjoy the free steak sandwiches until you're full
You don't even need to dine in the restaurant at all!

Before my current darling, I quite enjoyed it when guys brought me to coffee shops on dates. Maybe it's just me, but it made me feel they're unpretentious, & Not just out to impress. They genuinely wanted to get to know me as a person.
We would end up enjoying the great food (we'd order zhu chao) & a beer, & chatting.
Even to this day, my darling & I love eating at these places

if it is your first date, make it a point to ask for her preference(out of courtesy)
Lawrys or the grill @ raffles seems nice to go( mind you about the cost)
actually, it depends on your own nature too..just go to places you normally frequent so that you will know if she is comfy with your lifestyle..
dont bring her to some super fancy places or else she will expect it to be a norm next time! haha -

Nope, Not to me. I don't go for all this razzmatazz. If I wanna eat at posh restaurants, I can afford it myself. No need to so gian bng until expect others to take me there. I'd rather spend more time being ourselves, & I don't just see him on his best behaviour which is expected at a posh restaurant. Then I get to see a more natural side to the date
But then, to each his own. Some people think that going to posh restaurants is romantic, & I respect that, it's true. However, romance can also be found in the simplest things. I was 25 when I realised that

Best place is still to eat at home...
Buy stuff and cook yourself, no preservatives, freedom of choice of how the food turn out, no GST for service.
Eating at home is the best place for me. At least I don't have to contend with chilli sauce or curry for everything at foodcourt or atrocious bills for a simple dinner at a reasonable place with aircon.
Cleaning up is easy.... dish-washer does all the work! -

seriously, as long as you have good chemistry and can click with the gal, anywhere is fine! -
I would tell you where we usually go, but then hor, privacy issues lah We're always hanging out at coffee shops, places where there is good food & we don't hafta dress up to the nines all the time (although the mushy girls will know that even then, I hafta be immaculate lah ).
That's Not to say we don't go for a meal at a fancy place. We do, just that it's Not a must, & only once in awhile, when we feel like pampering ourselves silly & splurge If we want a nice dinner, we usually try to prepare it together, or he'll prepare something yummy himself if he doesn't want me setting fire to his microwave
