How to overcome ENVY???

Hello everyone.....
I got this problem which I cannot get rid of.... need your advice....
I seemed to be overcome by jealousy by the simplest of things.
Sometimes see friends with big car, big house, lots of money.... I'm so overcome by jealousy that i would cursed them under my breath....
Sometimes i would hope that something horrible happened to them...
I know this is very unhealthy and I'm trying very hard telling myself to count my blessings and not compare with others... but I would usually take 1 step forward but 3 steps back!!!
Hope to get some advice... need your help!!! -

tell yourself that the chances of them getting robbed is higher.
nice car?
also higher chances of it being vandalized/stolen.
aiyah...so what if they have all these things?
so long you have the basic stuff can already what.
think of all the poor people in other parts of the world.
and go do volunteer work! -

Get used to it, there is always others who will be more than 'one up' better than you. You envy them, but remember that is always someone above them that they also envy.
You have to find inner satisfaction, for no matter how much you have, you can never be contented. They may have nice cars and big houses, but they could be themselves jealous of others who own 10 luxurious cars, maybe a boat or 2, or even a private jet, and own mansions in different parts of the world. Where does it stop? It stops with yourself finding content in your life. -
Whenever I feel envious/jealous, I would just tell myself, "Whatever excuse I have to curse him/her is nothing but jealousy in disguise." Somehow whenever I say that, the feeling just disappear!

Know this.. and tell yourself that 70% of the rest of the population on this planet does not have it better then u. U got a house to live in , food to eat , basic neccesities , developed country , MTV ...
I used to envy also , then i saw the light at the end of the tunnel.. i work my way.. i go hard n play hard. Now i almost got everything , except a Playboy girlfriend and Millions n Billions of dollars.
Hopefully soon.. or someday.. but i know i am that 30% that is living the good life.

When you are satisfied with your life, you are no longer jealous... so what it might boil down to is that you are not satisfied with your lot....
