i m currently studyin yr1 in so called da oldest poly in singapore
i dunnoe y n they encourage fresher 2 buy notebookz fr tis yr onward.
so tt we can do online tutor n assignment when the lecturers assign us to do so..
most of tuitorial notes r on our web...
bt.. no exercise or experiment worksheet at all...they r all purely lecture notes..
to get all these exercises, have to buy text book which cost abt $26...
another bookz cost $38..
wut if those stu whu dun have text book, where can they attempt for exercise ?
if they wan us 2 refer textbk for exercisez n experiment.., y do they encourage us to buy those notebook tt cost... over $1500+?
some of ma classmates carry those laptop tt weigh ard 2kg plus..those thick textbookz everydae...
if they wan us to do online tutor or assignment, we can do them @home...
now like.. we use laptop 4 chattin n play game in campus...
instead of using for education purpose...
for other time, we just keep our laptop in laptop case.
da funnie part is..there r 1000+ engineering stu

Haha.. Come on lor, this is only ur first year, first sem and u're complaining. And seriously speaking, ur textbook cost is much cheaper than mine. Try going to SPSU and ask about second hand books if u wanna save money.
For notebook case, did they really force u to purchase? Cos u can always borrow one from SMIT department. Rite under Foodcourt 6. Try asking the department staff if u need assistance.

For the textbooks, just borrow and photocopy if you can't buy one....

now NYP oso.. muz buy lappy le. not of my concern becuz i always carried one in the first place.. lol..
the e-assignments can do in labs. u can refuse to buy, wad wld they do?
textbook wise, im from IT course.. basically, i bought 2 textbooks. one sold after a week becuz of no use, the other rotting at home. -
i buy textbooks..so i dun feel guilty skipping classes

Not Forces you to buy a note book.
The Online Lecture materials are EXTRA materials.
Other Stuff like Text Books are only COMPULSORY
