Well the thing that is different in this generation to our parents is that, there are more subcultures(punk. goth, emo, etc.) in our generation. So it results in everyone dressing differently and have different attitudes and are we growing apart? Unfortunely I dun have a answer to that question. Anyway the subcultures situation in Singapore isn't as diverse as in other countries, since most singaporean youngsters follow pop culture.
Strength in diversity.New genres of communication and music are popping up nowadays, cross-disciplinary works.
I believe we have to evolve a unique sense of individualism, before we come back together willingly to form a unified mega-culture.
It's the same with politics, confederations and regional alliances do not work unless states are allowed to express themselves through self-determination, and then onto a future stage of self-integration.
Fashion/sub-culture is just a smaller scale thing that's all. You've got to break it down to the smallest level and let it aggregate upwards again..
