Guess I can answer your question with my experience. A few years ago I was hunting for a MBA course. But I had already a marketing diploma (CIM). I was looking for a postgrad finance course ( at that time thinking of going into banking). There were specialised MBA finance courses and there were MSc Finance courses around. I think the main difference is that some universities conduct MBA FInance courses ( but the depth to which they do so can be selected by the student) such that students can mix and match topics quites freely and end up doing a half FInance and Marketing MBA. For the MSc Finance type courses, these tend to stick to 2 or 3 major routes ( either you end up specialising in Corporate FInance, or say Management Acconting , or Equities and Bonds trading). I tool the MSc Finance route... and ended up more or less knowledgeable in Corporate FInance.
