My Baby Wont sleep

My baby of 5 mths old doesnt wanna sleep wen its time(9 at night) She screams and cries like there is no tomorrow. Once you put her into her play pen she starts.
I know she is pretending, cos she will stop when my wife or in-law carries her.
Sometimes i even catch a smirk or smile on her face.
Now its worse, cos she has learnt that by choking and vomiting she will get her way.
To put 1 baby to sleep must have 2 -3 person coax her to sleep.
I had to put my foot down to prevent them from carrying her when she cries.
Now that she learnt the vomiting thingy i m afraid i just lost the battle. Politically she just won the sympathy votes from my wife and in - laws.
At first my in-law said that baby during first year need security, so when they cry must carry. I m like wtf. This is ridiculous. I did my research on the net and even bought the book to show them otherwise.
Is it ok to just leave her alone? -

I m not trying to potray that she is a villian, its just hat i have a uncanny feeling that she would turn out like a spoilt brat. If this carries on , i m sure she wil.
Wonder wen can i use the cane..... -

First 5 months only,you bear to leave her alone meh.

just bear with it loh,wait till he/she grew older like 1 yrs old

Babies are extremely innocence. Their facial expressions normally do not really tells what they really mean. As they are learning to control their expressions. The expressions may be misunderstood by u.Being 5 mths old actually it is quite easy to get them to sleep, being that babies generally require more hours of sleep. One thing for sure is try not to overplay with them a few hours before the child rest. In doing so, the baby will get too excited to sleep. Most of the documented books that are available are more for the western babies where they believe more on giving the child independent learning on their own. However in our Asian culture it is more of naturing the child, I believe that is why there is sort of a conflict between what that you holds and between your in laws.
I agree that we should let the child cry however the adult must be close by to observe the situation. The only way I child can communicate is by crying. The crying maybe due to various reasons breathing difficulties, getting attention etc. Therefore, in every situation a due of attention should be given to the child.
Involve yourselve more in the nuturing of the child and you will understand them more. For eg, capturing their first cry, first smile, first step all this will eventually helps you to bcome closer to the child. -

no harm giving her more hugging....it helps to calm them....
not too worry about giving her too much attention...i give all my three children lots of 'hugging' , carrying and attention...they are not spoilt brat...as long as u teach them, accordingly to their understanding level, what is right and wrong....
let your wife and in-laws pacify her bah...don't deprive them of the joy of doing that....
do get involve in nuturing your child together with your wife... -
dun be overly submissive...learn to pamper her and because she havent reach her 1st year.. her perceptions havent yet developed...If she cries to gain attention, ignore her.. she will eventually lull herself to sleep..You must get used to this..it's gonna be a cycle to ur everyday life. My daughter is 6 months old and it took me quite a while to get a hold of my life.

and u're already thinkin of when to use the cane? think logically... babies ain't like cunning adults whose minds are polluted with selfishness, or whatever... she's just a BABY!!! her mind has not even mature yet... ur baby is totally innocent for goodness sake... pls go and read up more child development books dude.... -

Drop him down from the building?
There is just so many ways -
human contact is good for developing babies ..... if wifey is exercising motherly instincts, just leave her to it lor .........
lots of people want to have a BB to sayang, yet don't have one ...... treasure it man ....
