What would you do if you were me?

Ok, some of my friends read sgforums, so Im gonna mask this person's identity. Lets just call my friend X.
Well here's what happened.
X's mother treated me nicely, often offering to give me a lift home. So in return I bought a gift for X's brothers, as I did not know what to give X's mom, but the gift got X's brothers displayed the sentiments of gratitude I wanted to show for her kindness. (After all, X's brothers are her mother's sons, so the attitude is shared.)
But here's what X did. Upon receiving the gift, (I passed it to her to pass to her brothers) she planned to give it to her brothers - but pass it off as her own! So basically it becomes he gift. Now the gift is not some terribly fantastic piece of goodilooki ornament, but it's (quite literally), the thought that counts.
So now I can't relay to X's mom my appreciation for her, and X has ended up with a gift she calls her own.
Of course I can do the RIGHT thing and simply call X's mom and tell her about the gift, but X has already told her mom the gift's from her. And it's not that the mom would not trust me (in fact I think she will know I'm telling the truth), it's just that I'm giving X the benefit of the doubt to tell the truth (which she undoubtly won't).
....so if you were me, what would you do?

I wouldn't do anything, if people treat me like that, I just have to accept that.

if i were you then suan le lor (maybe because im a person who dont ji jiao much) maybe you can buy another different one and this time pass to X mum personally. and again if i were you then X this friend dont really make a good friend, my impression of X will drop.

passing friend's gift which was meant to be shared among the family as he/hers is something that shows the character, either he/she is a cheapskate, or trying to think he/she is smart, doing it without you doing.
in any case, you should be better of without this friend, if your fren X's family members treat you well, then NEXT TIME send your regards, and gift PERSONALLY to them, and slowly get to know your X fren more in deep then confront mr/ms X -

so you mean she told you directly that she told her mom and brother the gift is from her?
Well.. did you ask her why she did that?
