The problem is, all of us work. So, there really aren't anyone who can give him 24 hours care. It is the other thread where originator "icsm" said that private nurse costs only $900. I just need to know whether it is true.
The medical social worker has given us a week to prepare for my grandpa's discharge and my parents are stressed over it. They have discusssed with my other two uncles, and they have no good solution. Nursing Home is really quite expensive (very tough on us financially) and maid is just not suitable (my grandpa needs tube feeding and some form of dialysis due to renal failure). Sigh, we might have to turn to nursing home for help.
While consulting friends, my mum heard from her good friend, Pearl, that a maid will not be able to do these jobs. Pearl's mother in law was not properly cared for by the maid and had very serious bed sore, so much so that doctor diagnosed that her blood was poisoned. In the end, she passed away. They regretted as a maid is trained to do household chores and not nursing, hence she advised that for non-bedridden old folks, maids might be alright but definitely not for the bedridden ones.
I tried calling a few placement agencies, but it seems that a nurse coming to my house to work for a 12-hour shift would cost between $120 to $150 for day shift, and more for night shift. So I am confused, how is it possible to get a private nurse for $900 (IMPOSSIBLE!). But if it is possible, pls enlightened me. We are in a dire strait! HELP!
