What does liao mean ?

I posted it in another thread and was told it meant "already".
But my x boyfriend called me that and I was wondering if there was another meaning for it ? -

We were going to get married and he took a job in China for 6 months and he broke up with me a month after he got there.
He said he didn't have room in his future for me anymore.
We still stayed friends after that but when he got back home, he sent me a message on icq calling me a liao and wouldn't talk to me after that.
It really confused me. -

That's what my ex-gf did too. She wants to break off, said I treat her good, and blames herself but still want to break off. Dun ask me, I also have no idea until now y she wanted to break off. I thought by letting her go was a happiness for her, so be it.
