Under what circumstances can u tell that a guy likes a gal ?

Here it goes..
I like this colleague of mine and he knows it. We went out a couple of times, alone, 1-to-1.
Many times, he told me that we are not possible, but he have been doing things I am confused about.
That day we went for dinner, after that he asked me if he can hug me. I didn't reply. On the way back, he asked again and b4 i can reply, he hugged me and proceed to ask me for a kiss. I relented and reciprocated.
Things went further. A simple kiss become a french kiss and a partial hug becomes a full hug.
Hmmm... What do U guys/Gals think of this scenario..
Is this guy serious or he is just making use of my friend. She really like him, but not sure if the guy shares the same sentiment, though he 'said so' that they can be v gd fren or even bf/gf but not anything further.
