How to know if someone likes you?

18 years old le, still no bf, also nobody chase me before... still blur on the signs of attraction... I see all my friends have bf before loh...
Is it partly because whenever I walk around I don't dare look at the people around me so I don't know? I am scared that when caught looking at other people, might have some degree of misunderstanding..
So, how to know if someone is attracted to you? -

There's no definite tell-tale sign which is universal as far as this goes.
I suppose there isn't much harm in you taking the initiative if you should see a guy you fancy? Afterall, why limit yourself to just choosing from a pool of those who court you and pass up on a potential chance of finding someone really right for you just because you do not take the initiative? -

Regarding your fear of rejection, while understandable, it's ultimately a matter of knowing when and how to strike the right balance I guess. It's like a gamble and ultimately, you've to decide whether the rewards are worth the gamble. Think about it : would it not be better for you to find the right guy(even after a couple of rejections if need be) by being a little thick-skinned than risk being with someone who takes the initiative to court you but may not be the right one for you?
Of course, in an ideal world, it'd be perfect if Mr Right(at least, one by your definition) courted you, but you've to realise not everyone is fortunate enough to live such a charmed life.
As for socialising, I don't suppose we can help you much, but perhaps you need to learn to open up to others? You could always start with your friends, if that helps. No disrespect, but if you think you can't socialise well, what difference does it make whether guys courted you or vice versa(I mean most guys - even those who take the initiative - wouldn't like to be with a girl who only gives monosyllabic answers, for instance)? I mean, being able to socialise well really shouldn't be used as an excuse when it comes to taking the initiative IMO(unless I misinterpreted you, I believe you claim to not dare take the initiative - besides the fear of rejection - is down to your social skills?). -

You don't socialise well? Well, you can always mingle with friends more, then you can learn to interact more. Fyi: some guys or even girls don't like to talk with people who can only answer them with one word or don't even answer at all, then these people are sadly being branded "Dao" or "Act Dao" as in aloof or anti-social. You have to start to open your mouth no matter even if it is soft and start speaking your mind, views and sometimes jokes so that people know you are sociable.
You can go out with friends who seem to know quite abit on attraction and such. Learn from them BUT if you think some of their views are not really correct or not suited for you, just use it as reference. There is no need to imitate 100%
How to know guys attracted to you? They chat with you more often, they try to include you in outings, they will be willing to help you, some even go as far as to do ANYTHING for you... BUT do not assume they are interested in you just based on these. There are many more and you will have to trust your intuition. Those are simply the start.
I can only advice you not to be hasty and jump into the love wagon without understanding the other party 1st. Many people jump in and later jump off because they do not understand each other well enough, they jumped in much due to their emotions and jumped out because their emotions is not the same as before.
Take it easy, you are 18. There is no need to fret just because you have never dated. In fact you should enjoy singlehood more because once you are attached, much of your singlehood freedom will be sacrificed. (Its not really a bad thing lah... Juz how you see it & how comfortable you are. ) -

Come on looking at people doesn't hurt, they won't bite you but watch out for those bengs and lians they might beat you up for staring at them. Other than them it's alright to look at people and maybe smile a little at people that you know while looking them, it might strike up some conversation.
BTW I am 18 and never dated too, nothing that bad. -
