I'm from human resource dept., that why I can know every staff salary. Our pay adjustment is from Aug. Apppraisal is always fall in mid Jul, so the result already confirm and pass to our dept. for processing.
Then, I found out that my boss is very unfair in the pay adjustment. I don't know why one of the staff does not contributed much and she's NOT busy at all (I always see her surfing net during office hours & chatting with another dept. colleague).
Whereas our another collegaue is always busy & responsible person, yet he don't have such a good pay raise like her? Is the mangement cannot see or what???
I felt that our company is very unfair to this colleague of mine. He work so hard for the company yet he don't get what he should have. I pity him but I cannot tell him company treated him so unfair lor. HR dept. suppose to kept everything we knows PRIVATE & CONFIDENTIAL.
What can I advise him?? I pity him, I want to indirectly tell him don't have to work so hard, but I don't know how? No point for him to work so hard yet management don't appreciate him ma.
Any suggestion for me to help him??
Put yourself in my shoes, if your colleague have been working so hard yet mangement don't feel anything, don't you feel bad for your colleague?? He don't do anything wrong just that mangement don't see how hard working he is. I'm in no postion to let the mangement know this matter, so I need advise from forum......
boss always can't see some things....
wats the justification like?
results? amt of OT? leave taken? hit quota?
It's all about how you wayang infrony of bosses.. hardworking takes second fiddle.
Oh... Looks are important as well.
more often than not, the best or most suitable person is not always in authority
well this is life... it is always not fair... prehaps tell him to learn a trick or two from the gal who is getting a better salary... or tell him that when he do works... someone (boss) must be able to see it... else.. don't work so hard...
compare their qualifications and skills?
and also if it's a sales job they are doing, compare their sales quota?
are they having the same position?
Did they join the company at the same time?
U are a HR personnel, you should look into the above and not judge by your feelings.
If i am in your shoes,i will see how close am I with the guy whom u think is being treated unfair.
If not close, simply just keep quiet,it non of my business anyway.
If quite close, well just give him a hint that he need to show the boss is working but not revealing other things concern.
In treatment of such issue, and as a HR personnel, you have to be in the interest of the company... It's understandable to be feeling unjust for that colleague of yours but how do you gauge hardworkingness? By the amount of work done or by the amount of time done?
Be objective and less subjective, try to see things in a heliscopic view and maybe you might see a even bigger picture than other can't see...
This is the real and hard fact of working life...
U said it yourself. Look at the person who does the appraisal? If the eprson does not fancy your work attitude... hey, all he/she gotta do is to write something unfavourable and there's ya adjustment not.
Your Boss took a hard look at the appraisal but wasn't on the ground to see see.Time to buck the 'trend'. As much as I hate to say it.. work smart at the right place at the right time. Alternatively, one moved on and get a job that pays in accordance to the level of commitment and competence.
