My good friend who joined MLM

We're very good friends, we're "brothers". He used to be against MLM but somehow or rather, he got convinced by the so called communion... He told me there's potential in the company, Lampe Berger, and wants me to be his partner, or to put it bluntly, his downline. The thing is, I don't think MLM can ever make a person rich unless he/she is the director or one of the elite groups at the top of the pyramid.
I almost joined until I did my homework on MLM and to my dismay, it's nothing but bullshit. Maths don't lie. The problem is, I laid out the truth about MLM to my friend and the more I try, the more he's keen on wanting me to join, telling me how different this company is from others and how great and noble the leader, Steven Lim is. Because I strongly feel that doing MLM will put a strain on my relationships with friends and relatives and thus jeopardizing my social standing, which may marr my image in the long term, I choose not to join. Already I'm starting to get irritated by his persistant argument that it is a get-rich-scheme although he did not explicitly state so.
I think my friend's in a delusion thinking that MLM will make a person get rich soon. Either that or he has become one of those lying evil lots. My problem is not much of how to reject him, but rather to present to him the different aspects of dangers associated with MLM without crushing his ideals which are rooted into it and pull him out of it before he lose his friends. -

MLM is Multi Level Marketing...usually the company will have a kind of product, then you either participate as a customer of the product or as one of the people in the company. kept asking her to join one MLM co but she refused.
Then nv talk liao, he nv call her again.
What for strain friendships bcos of this..

I've already lost my best friend when he joined MLM, because he will go through any means , eg go out for a meal, to indirectly intro u to go up to his company.. It just seems to me everything about him is fake now. I do not dare call him, go out with him...
Our friendship of 6 yrs... lost because of his ambitious pursuit for material gains. -

sadly.. i am convinced that it isn't MLM that changed the person's character.. but rather than MLM bring out the greed that is already existing in the person's character.
If the person already have that inherent desire to make lots of money, regardless of friendship and the grey areas of ethics that is sometimes very difficult to determine.... MLM will bring it to the surface.
(I mean... he is my downline right? I INTRO him to this great scheme leh... where got take advantage of him?)
If not, why would it influence him at all?
As such... hmmm if a friend of mine joined MLM... I wld make attempts to talk to him, but make it very clear that i will NEVER be his downline, and keep at a distance ba. Anyway most people who start to become MLMers.. usually become very 'assertive' and dont have much time for friends who arent interested anymore. -

MLM just appeals to the greed and laziness of people ... tell some young, impressionable chap that he can dress up in shirt and tie, shake leg in an office all day, and earn up to a million a year, which one of them wouldn't want it ? .....
but oh well .... some lessons have to be learnt the hard way ... and first hand ....
just let the chap be and he'll come back with his tail between his legs soon enough .... -

normally those who pay through recruitment are considered as piramid scheme meaning illegal ba..
but i have to agree, the empty promises it sometimes bring, can change a persons character drastically -
i have a fren, A who join MLM, lamp berger.
he tried to ask all of us to join and go for talk. i rejected but some of my friends did went for the talk and 3 (B,C,D)sign up. at the end of the day, 3 of them lose about $1,000 and get nothing in return. its basically money thrown down the drain.
1 of my frens who did not join said the person use taunting to like force some1 to join. the person said blahblah wan to be like bill gates earn alot of money etc.. then if u dun, the person will taunt u.. say no guts, chicken, dun dare to risk and i was like WTF?
i ask friend A to ask the person out. i wan listen to his talk but friend A refused, say the person is busy, no time blahblahla... pure excuses.
then from what i know, friend A eventually lose quite a number of friends and of course quite a sum of money.
btw, that Friend A is at JJC at the moment.
